Having a TPE will most likely help.  If the C's get a player from a team that just wants to dump salary they don't have to take a player in return.  The cost goes down when money is involved.
Seems like the most likely scenario now. I know many folks here wanted to get a player in return but the money was tricky. Using the TPE separately gives more flexibility. In my mind, Springer was Tony Allen 2.0 so I liked the guy (TA was on the 2008 championship team), but the salary dump was probably the most important factor.

The Thunder acquired Daniel Theis for next to nothing (cash only ?).
Could we have gotten Theis under the stupid CBA rules and the moronic "2nd apron" ?
Celts could sure use him.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I think just adding Davison and Peterson to the last 2 roster spots is just a waste of time. Neither add much of anything.

Yeah, we can basically use them as much as we want for the regular season regardless of whether we elevate them, and I don't see any real chance they play in the playoffs.

That said, I still think that's the route we go.  I'd much prefer bringing back Walker and signing Craig, or Oshae if he's in shape to play.

By when does that 14th roster spot need to be filled?
