OK, can we go get Valanciunas now, please?

We can only trade for guys making less than $4,018,363.  Jonas V. makes $9.9 million.

Salary list (not always 100% accurate) here:  https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/

Rats!

Ill settle for Yabusele.

A return of Javonte Green (New Orleans Pelicans) would make a ton of sense.
Expiring contract and the Pelicans are basically done for the season.

How about:

To New Orleans: Tillman
To Boston: Theis + Green

I?ve been thinking about this, too - at least the Green option. He?d be a perfect wing fit off the bench for us and he?s really close to several guys on the team, including JT. And if we do get a TPE from trading Springer, Green would fit into it.

Probably would only cost us a second, too.

Yabu is another potential option, though I think we need Greeb more.

I am not sure how it works exactly but when I enter a trade on Fanspo for Eric Gordon to the Celtics for nothing in return, it says the trade works due to the maximum salary exemption (MSE).   I think this means that we can trade for any min salary player, possibly with other conditions, and not have to send back any salary or if more than 1 player involved, the min salary doesn't count against our incoming cap limit of no more than our outgoing salary.

So we have options to fill the last 1 or 2 roster spots, sign a FA or buy out, trade using the Springer TPE (about $4M), or trade using this MSE.

This is a clear salary dump.  If they are clearing this salary to allow some other move, I will reserve judgement until I see what the other move is.  They have to sign at least one other player so depending on who that is, maybe this will end up making the team better and not just saving the team money.

Lonnie Walker? think he has a buyout. Look for buyouts as they pro rata. They incur less tax.

As they are above the apron any free agent signing has have been earning less than the mle

I'm pretty upset. Would have preferred to keep Springer but I thought at least we could get back a player for him in a trade. A salary dump feels meh

Maybe Brad is planning a move with Tillman + future pick(s)

We might get a bench player for his TPE.  We might not, also, but wait until 4pm tomorrow before fully judging.

I think Walker makes as much sense as anyone. Could give some good energy minutes.

Having a TPE will most likely help.  If the C's get a player from a team that just wants to dump salary they don't have to take a player in return.  The cost goes down when money is involved.

Theis was traded to OKC so scratch him out of our wishlist. It feels like Tillman is next to go. I would love it if Lonnie somehow makes his way back here.

Quality 3rd string PG. Hurts to lose him (for accounting purposes). He was useful insurance.

A strong defensive combo guard.

If I'm not mistaken, trading for a player making the minimum would result in us paying tax on their full salary, but signing someone to a minimum contract would mean it's pro-rated and we only have to pay part of it. If that's still the case then I think a buyout or 2-way player being signed is way more likely than a trade for a minimum salary guy
I'm bitter.

Just making sure, but Lonnie Walker can simply be signed with no hiccups, right?

I wonder if that's the plan.

I think that's the most likely solution.

My guess is that we bring in one buyout and sign either Davison or Peterson to a standard contract.
