Maybe Ainge will trade Kessler cheap to the Celtics just to get back at the Lakers

McHale paid it forward with Garnett. Now, it?s Danny?s turn.

Love to have Kessler with Horford last year maybe & Porzingus injuries history but like to have a scoring wing off the bench

How can we trade for Kessler without giving up a main rotation player?

Don't think it's possible anymore. Springer was the only way to do it with his salary.

Tillman, Scheierman both make less than Kessler and we can't do a "2 for 1" or something due to the 2nd apron penalties.

Yeah, that's what I thought. You'd have to trade PP....

We have a trade exception until the deadline in the exact amount of Springer's salary.  So, we could still fit Kessler's salary in.

So we could trade the exception and picks for Kessler. Would Danny do us a solid?

I love Kessler and think he could be a nice Horford replacement, what worries me a little though is I see quite a few in the Boston media who say Kessler isn't that much of an upgrade over Kornet. Like, if Kornet got similar usage and an increased role he could put up similar numbers. I think Kessler is a lot better but idk.

Kessler is much better than Kornet, particularly on defense.

The question is, do you want to give up multiple #1s for a role player?

If you know you can keep Kessler here long term, I would.

That way, when Horford retires and even 1 of KP/Holiday gets traded, you can continue with a core of Tatum-Brown-White-Kessler. Kessler is only 23 years old too.

Pretty sure the C's still have like 3 first round picks left until 2030. If it takes two of them and Kessler stays, it's worth it IMO to maximize our window with Tatum-Brown as well. They still have a bunch of second rounders to make minor moves in the future.

Someone on Reddit made a post where it's actually possible to get under the 2nd apron AND trade for Kessler lol

Ha.  We'd have to have five guys on the *rookie* minimum, but sure.

Not only that, but do you want to give up multiple firsts AND give the guy a big contract right when you as a team are already projected to be the most expensive NBA team of all time?

He is cheap next year at just 4.9 million, but then you need to pay him. Unless the plan is to dump Holiday or KP the C's just don't have the money to pay him. The C's will probably already have to dump one of those two even WITHOUT paying a guy like Kessler.

I think he's better than Kornet, i don't think he's so much better that you give up multiple firsts and pay him like 20 million when you can just have Kornet on a minimum.

The only way it MIGHT make sense is if you plan on trading KP, use whatever you get to trade for Kessler, and make him the starting center next year. You save like 25 million in salary and literally like 100 million in tax next year as a result. Then you extend him and move forward with him INSTEAD of Porzingis.
