Last season's #1 pitcher (Houck) back to the IL:

The Red Sox will keep Houck on the injured list for the time being while the training staff works with him in Boston.  "That?s what we've got right now," Cora told reporters, per Red Sox broadcaster Mike Monaco. "We'll have more information in the upcoming days."

MLB.com?s Ian Browne reported Houck's setback stems from a "recurrence of the right pronator strain." Houck initially landed on the 15-day injured list May 14 due to the right pronator strain.

This is too bad.  I am not worried (yet) about the Sox losing 2 (so far) to the Cubs.  Even as the team/roster stands, I think they are a strong contender for a play-in spot.  If they can add a pitcher, all the better.  But it would have been real nice to get Houck back (the 2024 version of Houck).

There?s no way I would do that. Cease is on an expiring deal and only has a 4.59 ERA this year. Duran is worth way more than that as he?s cost controlled for 2 more years and is a big clubhouse guy. I?d wait until the off-season before unloading any of the OFers. And maybe I?d just package Masa with prospects to free up the DH spot. No harm in rotating Abreu, Duran and Roman through the DH spot.

You mean the guy the Sox had last year and could've just re-signed last offseason? That would be so lame if they now gave up prospects for him.

Loved Pivetta when he was here. He just never really put it together. Its slightly concerning to me that Pivetta and Priester have been so good as soon as they left.

Loved Pivetta when he was here. He just never really put it together. Its slightly concerning to me that Pivetta and Priester have been so good as soon as they left.

Good point. Imagine this Sox team if they'd kept Pivetta and Priester and those two were pitching this good here (with a good pitching coach).

I was thinking Dodgers or Yankees, but yeah, Mets are the other possibility. I think every good young player will be a Dodger/Yankee/Met within 5 years of making the bigs. That's just (unfortunately) the economy of MLB right now?if you're not one of the biggest couple of markets, you're either a quad-A feeder team for those markets (A's are a great example of this), or a midsize feeder team for those markets.

I was thinking Dodgers or Yankees, but yeah, Mets are the other possibility. I think every good young player will be a Dodger/Yankee/Met within 5 years of making the bigs. Garrett Crochet is 12-4 which is tied for the best record for a starter. He is 4th in ERA(2.24) and first in strikeouts with 175. Crotchet is a top 5 pitcher in all of baseball.
