Torrey Craig might be a more realistic trade..Lonnie Walker be a good add

How about expand this a little:

Torrey Craig and Talen Horton-Tucker
for
Springer and Scheierman + 1st in 202#?

Those are not the players you trade future firsts for.  Craig has only played in nine games this year, and is currently out, with a re-evaluation coming in two weeks.  Horton-Tucker is barely in the Bulls rotation.

I admit, I am not up on the injury status of either.  Maybe a future 2nd is enough.  These are two players that would likely play ahead of Walsh at least, which is an improvement over Springer and Scheierman.  Not moving the needle all that much, I know, just trying to spur some trade talk.

I'm only including a Brown trade because the new owners may command that it be done before they take over so they won't be blamed. If there is no such command, he should stay.

Brown to Lakers

Hachimura, Reaves, Finney-Smith, and Hayes (needed for salary) to Celtics

Pick(s) may be needed

Works in the Trade Machine

So I've seen the idea of "new owners demanding a trade" floated around, and i think its one of the dumbest things I've heard.

That's not how selling a team works. NBA teams aren't PS5's sitting on a shelf at target, there are only 30 of them and a prestige franchise like the Celtics becoming available is a once per decade occurrence. There is a 0% chance there's going to be haggling about trading a player as a condition buying the team, that's not how it works.

Now once a new owner buy the team could he trade a guy to save money? Absolutely. But if anything I'd imagine the new owner would want to do that themselves to have direct control over the trade. But before the deal is agreed to as a condition of the deal? Not happening.

That is 4 players incoming, 1 outgoing.  That means we would need to cut at least 2 players.  Who are you going to cut?  I guess Tillman would be an easy one.  Do you then just cut Springer?

Thankfully, I see little chance this trade happens.  Plus, per my Trade machine, Finney-Smith can't be traded until Feb 27 (the trade deadline is Feb 6).  And I don't think that LAL can take back more than they send out.

I commend the OP for his attempt here, but I could never stand to see Draymond on the Celtics.

Look, I don't want to make this trade but those who think that we're going to get someone like Doncic or Morant are just being delusional. I don't like "5 pennies for a nickel trades" either but sometimes trades are forced upon us. Just look at the ugly situation in Miami. We may have to try to win by surrounding our superstar with a veritable wave of solid pros and all-star quality players. As for the Celtics being a special historic franchise, from a business point of view, they are certainly special. They don't own the building and are simply the Bruins tenants. Their payroll may approach $500 million. Try to make money under those conditions. Most of the people replying seem to want to stick their fingers in their ears and say "no, no, no, don't trade Brown". I hope the new owners agree with them, but I have my doubts that they will. The franchise is being sold for non-sentimental financial reasons and is being purchased for different financial reasons.

As for Finney Smith, I simply don't know one way or the other about his trade eligibility. I used ESPN's Trade Machine and it gave me the ok. It also said that the total salaries were properly balanced.
