I never expected an instant repeat .  But I hoped they would make some nice runs to go along with the title.   Everything has to go your way , so many factors to consider.

Repeats tend to happen with teams with all-time greats - players with excellent supporting casts who simply are the best player on the court night in and night out.  The Celtics do not have such a player.  Fortunately for the moment I?m not sure if any contending team has that formula.  Therefore, the Cs have as good a chance as any of the contenders.  But it will be a terrific accomplishment if they do it. 
My hope is a run of 5 more years where they are a prime contender - perhaps seeing the Finals 2 or 3 more times and winning another.   And all before the Lakers again have the top player in the league.

The Celtics are 7-6 in the last 13 games, good for 8th best record over that time.  OKC and CLE are both 12-1 over that span.  But point differential, the Celtics are +7.6 per game, good for 4th best (OKC is +14.7, CLE is + 12.6 in that span).

They are a 0.500 team over the last roughly 1 month.  To have a bad month, or really a flat month, by itself does not concern me.  It probably happens to many teams trying to repeat.  But there has to be a moment here fairly soon where this team either elevates itself to where it needs to be or they aren't going to repeat.  Other teams have gotten better and perhaps more importantly, hungrier, than they were last season.  The Celtics need to be better and hungrier than last season too if they want to repeat.  Easier said than done.

They'd have to go worse than 12-8. I know it's been bad but I'd be stunned if they went worse than that. But it doesn't matter, this team doesn't even look like an ECF team right now

West coast games are very tricky. I can see them dropping all 4 games. I'll be surprised if they beat the Lakers, and we'll get them on the SEGABABA. There's also the NBA Finals rematch with Dallas, and they're looking for blood

Somebody should be fired if they do drop all 4 games though cuz that'll mean we riding on a 5-game losing streak

Since the date of that post (December 23 post), we're 8-7 and everybody on the team has acknowledged that the team is struggling. Why wouldn't people complain?
