I hate the Lakers but I feel once Lebron retires I won't really care as much. It was similar when Kobe retired and there was that gap between him and Lebron.

Today my vote goes to the Lakers. If we are talking any generic time in history and are it looking at team make up I would vote the Yankees. The Jets have been too irrelevant for too long for me to care about them.

EDIT: if we are talking about losing a world championship series the answer is ALWAYS the Lakers.

If I really have to choose one, it?s probably the Yankees.  Just due to the fact that my interactions with Yankees fans over the years have been much more commonplace as someone who grew up in New England where there is that mix of Yankees & Red Sox fans. Then going to school at BC which had a ton of tri-state students so those interactions obviously where regular.

Also, IMO, the peak of the rivalry (late 90s to mid 00s) occurred in my most formidable years as a sports fan when I was a teenager and early 20s so the hatred was at a real boiling point.

It's the Lakers.  The title count is too close.

But, I dislike the Yankees organization and fan base way more.  They've got way too many hothead jerks rooting for them.  People criticize Philly fans, but I've found most of them to be okay.  Yankees fans are much more likely to be obnoxious and arrogant.  (I guarantee they say the same thing about Red Sox fans, and they're probably not all that far off.)

My first NBA game I watched was the Celtics vs Lakers back in the 80s, and that's when I picked side and loved the Cs.

I don't watch baseball, except when my college advances to post season, and my NFL team is the Dolphins due to Marino. It's been a long suffering years.

Interesting - I think that's residual NYC+ Connecticut v. Boston/Real New England vibes which, especially since 2004, feels like a general disdain for the 'big city' (loads of New Englanders hate Boston, Portland, Providence etc.).

Whereas watching the Lakers lose is always great, it's not really an indictment of 'LA Culture' in the same way - even if I find stereotypical Angelenos and New Yorkers to be equally infuriating in very different ways.

It is the Yankees for me.  Lakers a close second.  I don't even care about the Jets, I like seeing the Cowboys lose more than the Jets, but not due to any specific rivalry with the Patriots.

It is interesting that the Celtics and Lakers could meet in the finals (and have many times) but the Sox and Yankees cannot meet in the World Series.  So if we are talking head to head, the Sox could only lose to the Yankees in the ACLS (or before) but the Celtics could lose to the Lakers in the Finals.  Somehow, losing to the Lakers in the Finals seems worse than losing to the Yankees in say the ALDS.  But having the Yankees win the World Series in general is worse to me than seeing the Lakers win the Finals (but both are bad).  If the Jets won the Super Bowl, I kind of wouldn't even care.

As a Broncos and Celtics fan it's the Patriots and Lakers for me. Past year or so has been real sweet.

I think the league is better when the Lakers/Celtics are good, but seeing the Lakers make it and then lose is the best.

I just feel bad for the Jets at this point. My two closest friends are Jets fans, and watching them go from hopeful to despondent every year is awful.

And I am not into baseball at all so the Yankees aren't even on my radar.
