Pritchard is quickly becoming one of my favorite underrated Celtics. I used to be in favor of shipping him out because tbh nobody gave him playing time back then and he didn't seem happy about the lack of playing time. Look what happens when he gets regular PT. He flourishes and was able to showcase what he can do. Glad he helped contributed to a chip last year. Hope he's here for the long haul.
In 2022/23, he averaged 13.4 minutes but in only 43 games. So only played in just over half the games. That was the only season where he was not used much. That season we had Smart, White, and Brogdon as combo guards ahead of him. He just didn't get any minutes. He was the 4th combo guard on a team that only had regular minutes for 3.
Once Smart was traded for Porzingis (and subsequently, Brogdon for Holiday), Pritchard bumped up to 3rd combo guard and last season played in all 82 games averaging 22.5 min. I think the Celtics knew how good he was/could be all along, that is part of why they were looking to trade either Smart of Brogdon for a big, and why they were willing to sign him. He was always part of the plan. He was just stuck behind clearly better players in 2022/23.
