2007: Spurs, 1st / Cavaliers, 7th (6 spots)
2006: Heat, 6th / Mavericks, 3rd (3 spots)
2005: Spurs, 1st / Pistons, 6th (5 spots)
2004: Pistons, 2nd / Lakers, 7th (5 spots)
2003: Spurs, 3rd / Nets, 4th (1 spot)
2002: Lakers, 2nd / Nets, 5th (3 spots)
2001: Lakers, 8th / Sixers, 5th (3 spots)
2000: Lakers, 1st / Pacers, 6th (5 spots)
1999: Spurs, 1st / Knicks, 14th (13 spots)
1998: Bulls, 3rd / Jazz, 4th (1 spot)
1997: Bulls, 1st / Jazz, 2nd (1 spot)

1989: Pistons, 4th / Lakers, 3rd (1 spot)
1988: Lakers, 2nd / Pistons, 3rd (1 spot)

Interesting list. Only 5 times in the last 35+yrs has there been a Finals matchup where the teams were 10+ places apart in net rating. 3 of 5 have been in the last 3 years.

1999 = Spurs demolished NYK
2018 = GSW destroyed GSW
2023 = DEN made mince meat out of Miami
2024 = BOS were leagues ahead of Dallas
2025 = OKC vs IND = ?? ??

So not only were they far apart in regular season, but they all led to domination in the Finals by the superior net rating team. Bad omen for Indiana.
what is Indiana's net rating from January 1 till now. They have been a vastly different team in 2025.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Statmuse says Indiana have the 6th best net rating since Jan 01 at +5.4 per 100 possessions. In that same period, OKC was #1 with a +13.5.

It is an interesting top 10. BOS +8.5 Cavs +8.0 LAC +7.3 MIN +7.2. Then the drop off to Indy. DET +5.0 just behind Indy. GSW +5.0. DEN +4.5. LAL +3.7. Just outside the top 10 we have HOU +3.4 MIL +3.2. Then a drop-off to +1.8 MEM and +1.5 NYK. Also interesting how low NYK are in this. 14th.

that makes sense and I believe is more indicative of the team Indiana is currently. Still worse than OKC, but closer to them.

Chris Mannix: Silver says he sees no reason to reduce the number of games. Says there is no data that suggests that the length of the schedule contributes to injuries. via x.com

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Pacers gotta win tonight to have a legit shot at winning this series?the fact the thunder are randomly changing the starting lineup makes me wonder if it?s possible

So no Hartenstein in the starting lineup. Cason Wallace starting instead. Why?

I was listening to Caitlin Cooper (great Pacers reporter). She said IND lost 1 of the 2 games against OKC this season when OKC were without both of their big men. That when OKC went to J-Dub at center is when OKC pulled away and won the game. IND tried to matchup to them and it wrecked them.

I think the thunder win regardless but for them to change the lineup is crazy

RJ saying Pascal Siakam is the one matchup problem they have no answer for. Too big and athletic.

Nonsense. Both J-Dub and Chet are excellent defensive matchups against Siakam.

3 turnovers in first 6min. That would be 6 turnovers a quarter. 24 turnovers in a whole game. IND gotta take better care of the ball.

Another turnover. 4 turnovers. OKC should be happy with this start. Game trending in their direction.

Haliburton needs to use the floater. It?s going to be hard for him to get his set shot off.

SGA is getting paint buckets so easily. Not good.
