Last 4 possessions

* DeRozan acts as PG and initiates offense
* DeRozan gets subbed. LaVine acts as PG and initiates offense.
* D Sabonis rebound, pushes ball in transition, no transition, initiates offense as PG
* D Sabonis gets subbed. Monk acts as PG and initiates offense.

I have no idea who the Kings main ball-handler is. It feels like "your turn, my turn" basketball. No organization. No rhythm. No structure.

Probably because their main ball handler the past 7 years got traded and the new guys don't know what they're doing yet so it's headless chickens

Utah would be Dennis Schroeder's ninth NBA team. Only five players have been with more teams before their age 32 season (none of Dennis' caliber): Chucky Brown, Damon Jones, Ish Smith, James Ennis and Kevin Ollie.

Dennis Schroder has been traded for the 6th time in his NBA career, possibly making him the most traded active NBA player. At 31, he's two trades away from tying for 2nd place, while Trevor Ariza holds the record with 11 trades.

Kinda crazy that Phoenix is only 25 wins 25 losses. I figured their main guys had missed lots of time. They have missed some time but not huge amounts.

Booker has played 43 of 50 games.
Durant has played 39 of 50 games.
Beal played 37 of 50.

You would think that team should have a better W-L record given that relative good health of their Big 3.

Phoenix rank 27th in defensive efficiency.

So that is where their issues are. Tyus Jones and Monte Morris are both below average defenders. I don't think the were the right guys to target. It also locked them into playing D Booker at SF where he is a well below average defender. He is a passable defender at SG but playing him so many minutes at SF hurts him. Bad decision.

I also do not understand the trade of Okogie earlier in the season. He was one of the few guys that did play defense for them. Okogie and Royce O'Neale. O'Neale should be starting at SF. Okogie as his backup. Instead they start Ryan Dunn who is an impressive young defender but cannot play effective offense at this stage of his career. They needed to keep Okogie and play him more (14mpg in 25 games). They also needed to play Royce O'Neale more (25mpg).

This team might miss the playoffs. That is crazy. A team with Durant, D Booker and B Beal might miss the playoffs ... and they have even been fairly healthy.

Coach there, Coach Budenholzer, has not done well with that team.

Schroder turned down that contract offer from the Lakers in 2021 for 4 years, $84M.  Since then, he has made about $17M or so and been traded 3 times.

So the final tally is that his decision cost him about $67M.

The slavery thing is one of the dumbest player quotes of all-time.  At least he conceded that he can feed his family.

But, his greater point about it being hard to move teams and cities with no notice is a fair one.  At least for a few seconds there it looked like he might be living in Miami, which probably isn't a bad gig.  He then found out it was Salt Lake City, which just has to suck for all involved.

It is more of a European thing. In European soccer, all 3 parties have to agree for a player to move. Team A offers a sum money, Team B decides to accept it, and then Team A has to reach a separate agreement with the player over their contract for a deal to be struck. Contracts do not get moved between teams. For you to move, you have to agree a new contract. So the player always has a say in the transaction. It is always their choice.

American sports where this doesn't exist seems strange in comparison. That teams can move players without the player's consent.

Slavery is not the right word for it but I believe that is where he is coming from with his comments.

Rylan Stiles @Rylan_Stiles

Chet Holmgren getting to return before the break is also a big win to get a baseline of his fit/initial read on the roster before the All-Star break which can act as a second training camp to correct or sharpen anything.

Big news for OKC. It will be great to see Chet & Hartenstein together.

Monica McNutt of ESPN gave her top 5 guys to start an NBA franchise with

6 - Anthony Edwards
5 - Luka Doncic
4 - Jayson Tatum
3 - Wemby
2 - Jokic
1 - SGA

She thought Jokic had to be on the list despite being older because of how good he is and how well his game will age. So he has many dominant years ahead of him.

A little concern about Wemby. Possible injury risk as a 7 foot 5 guy. Still needs growth. Needs to add power to his offensive arsenal.

Interesting list. Nice to see Tatum ahead of Luka.

Knicks started the season 10 wins 8 losses. They have been on a strong run since then. They have won 24 games and lost only 9 since then. A 59-60 win pace in the 33 games since their slow start.

Along with his 3 steals on defense yesterday, De'Aaron Fox had 4 deflections. Vassell had 7 deflections & 4 steals. Champagnie had 4 defelections & 5 steals. Fox yesterday on the perimeter players being able to gamble more with Wemby as a safety net.

Look at it this way, would you trade Tatum straight up today for Wemby?   I would not.  I would not trade Tatum for Luka either.  SGA and Jokic are harder calls.

They've gelled. I'm surprised the Celtics haven't played the Knicks more frequently, other than that opening night beatdown. NBA really saving them when they get their chemistry together.

That 2/3 playoff matchup will be brutal for sure.

Appears inevitable that this will be the second round matchup. I don?t love it.  Knicks are a good aggressive team.  Will give the Cs all they can handle, and then the Cavs if they survive.
