This leaves a big hole for the next insider reporter.  The guy made a huge name for himself for sure.  Who steps up as the NBA's #1 source?
Yup

It's not super surprising - working online can be exhausting stuff even if you're not responsible for staying in contact with all of your sources all of the time, being perpetually tied into Twitter, and essentially presumed to be available at any hour of any day.

This is a couple of years old (and about Shams), but one of the big takeaways is that it makes looking like an access merchant seem like the largely miserable pursuit that it is.

There's a report that ESPN is looking at Shams & Chris Haynes.

It?ll be interesting to see if all the connections Woj has made over the years helps the Bonnies punch over their weight class.

Woj was definitely losing his touch, and Shams knowing Woj was stepping aside before Woj did was the final straw.

I salute you Woj.

I remembered the Woj bomb about drafting Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in 2016 and 2017. The Kemba news. The Al Horford acquisition when he was leaving Atlanta for Boston. The July 4th or 5th announcement of Gordon Hayward coming to Boston. The Porzingis acquisition. The Jrue and DWhite acquisitions as well.

Also saw this somewhere: Woj retired before Joel Embiid makes an ECF appearance. Yikes

Not a whole lot of people have a bomb named after them with a positive connotation.

Adam Schefter on Adrian Wojnarowski's retirement: He wanted his life back

He wanted his life back Adam Schefter told NBA Today host Malika Andrews. He didn?t want to have to work on holidays. He didn?t want to be away from more family He didn?t want to have to?
take a shower with your phone up against the shower door so you can see a text that?s coming in or take your phone with you to the urinal and hold it in one hand while you take care of your business in the other. That?s the life that we live. And that was the life that we chose not to do any longer because it takes over your life.
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

As he said in 2015:

Quote
Wojnarowski has spoken in the past about how doing the insider job essentially requires a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, 52-weeks-a-year commitment. In a 2015 interview with GQ, he talked about how the job can bleed into his personal life.

?I remember once, my son was young and we were in our front yard playing catch,? he told GQ. ?And my phone was on the front stoop. I?d throw the ball and he?d throw it back. And then I?m like peeking over at the phone if there?s a text message or a missed call or whatever, right? So I throw a ball and I go over and look and he?s waiting or whatever. And I?m saying to myself, if I?m the guy across the street and I?m watching me, like, what kind of an [expletive] is that father over there?

?I always think of it this way: five days from now nobody is going to remember if I broke that story or not, but five days from now, five years, ten years, fifteen years, your kids are going to remember that you weren?t there, or that you were there but weren?t there. Nobody?s going to remember that you broke a trade. It?s a vapor.?

He will be missed though...to me he, along with Shams, was the only guy where if they posted a news piece (as opposed to an opinion piece) on social media to break a story you knew it was real.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Good for him for recognizing there's more important things in life than work.

He was certainly a bit of an agent whisperer but I liked the guy.  Always had alerts set up for his tweets on Twitter.
