Guys I would have some interest in:

Gordon Hayward
Doug McDermott
Robert Covington
Paul Reed
Cedi Osman
Justin Holiday
Reggie Bullock
Precious Achiuwa
Lonnie Walker IV
Patty Mills
Oshae Brissett

https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2024

What up with Paul Reed? Always seemed like a good back up when I have seen him play. Listed at 6?9?. Seems like a great back up power forward.

Paul Reed was claimed by DET so he never became a FA and BOS never got a shot at him.  Here is my list of interesting possibilities.  I am favoring players a little younger, who may have some ceiling space still:

Alexsej Pokusavski (22)
Oshae Brissett (26)
Jordan Nwora (25)
Precious Achiuwa (24)
Davis Bertans (31)

I know all these players have flaws.  I am curious about Poksusavski.  He is only 22.  Not sure there is any hope for him.  And on Bertans, his contract for 2024-25 was $16M but only $5M was guaranteed, and $5M was the buy out.  So does he count as $16M or $5M in terms of the buyout value?

Pretty slim pickings at this point.

Not that he has any real chance of making the Celtics, but I am curious about how Killian Tillie looks during summer league. He always had injuries holding back his development, but after ankle surgery he?s finally healthy again. If he can shoot the 3 at a 40% clip like he did at Gonzaga he?s a better option than Poku.

Our first game isn't until tomorrow.

I'm still advocating for signing Cooper Flagg's father.

Will Jaden Springer make the roster?

Is this finally the year of Yam Madar?

It's really hard to crack a championship roster.

Younguns might have to go down to Maine yet again.

I am hoping that Scheierman at least will get a serious look as a potential bench piece or even rotation wing/guard who could one day replace Hauser maybe?

So, when is the last day to pick up Springer's option? If we pass on that date does he just become UFA?

Ron Harper Jr was signed to an exhibit 10 deal. He?ll be competing for the 15th spot throughout the summer league and training camp. He could be the Brissett replacement?

I believe that the 2024/25 team option for Springer has been executed.  He is under contract for 2024-25 for about $4M.  The next deadline for him is June 2025 for a Qualifying Offer (QO) to make him a restricted FA.  He is also extension eligible.  I doubt much happens with him anytime soon but he is on the team for 2024/25.

Okay. So his contract is tradeable alone and/or in conjunction with another deal right?

Just curious what our options are if we want to make a move at the deadline (I understand the 2nd apron limitations on trades)

We have one regular roster spot and 1 2-way spot still open.  I see Harper as competing more for the last 2-way spot, not the 15th regular roster spot.  I imagine Anton Watson is the leader in the clubhouse for that last 2-way spot.

I was pretty disappointed in Peterson.  He has a 2-way contract currently, but I wonder what the implications would be if he was waived and replaced with say Harper.  I don't think the 2-way contacts are guaranteed.  So Peterson may not be any different than the guys with the Exhibit 10 contracts.

There is usually more nuance than I think to these things but we could trade Springer, I don't think we can combine players in a trade to match salary though.  So Springer would have to go out on his own in a trade, and we could take back 1 or more players in return, so long as the incoming salary is not even $1 more than Springer's outgoing salary.

I am still thinking about Jordan Nwora.  Here are some comments about him:

Quote
Good size on the wing at 6-foot-8. Beautiful three-point stroke which helps him knock down shots from deep.  Quick release, too, so he can't be left open for a second.  Pretty much just a set-shooter on offense without much diversity to his game.  Weak point-of-attack defender.

Quote
-Defense is something that in the past, he did not do a good enough job-, Raptors coach Darko Rajaković said. -And I'm really challenging him on that. I want him to become a solid defensive player because there is not one thing that can prevent him from being that. He is big. He is athletic. He is very mobile. He is capable (of moving) laterally. His focus and attention and effort has got to be on (a) much higher level.-

Seems to fit the SF/PF swing role like Brissett.  What do people think.  My impression is that he may be a little better than Brissett.

So far, Ron Harper Jr seems unremarkable. He?s pretty raw (needs reps) and looked slow and lost a few times on defense. Peterson at least is a little more polished. Harper on a 2-way should spend most of his time in Maine.

Watson is the best of the bunch. Smart and reliable, in the right places on offense and defense. Not spectacular but a nice glue cog. Def should at least be on a 2-way, but if he can dial in that shot he?s even worthy of the 15th spot.
