Is Jaelen House the little kid who was sitting on the Celtics bench during the 2008 playoffs?

Here's the initial 13-player summer league roster for the Celtics (Player, position, most recent team):

JD Davison, Guard, Celtics

Jahmi'us Ramsey, Guard, Raptors

Baylor Scheierman, Guard, Creighton

Jaden Springer, Guard, Celtics

Jaelen House, Guard, New Mexico

Tristan Enaruna, Forward, Cleveland State

Ron Harper Jr., Forward, Raptors

Tyler Cook, Forward, Joventut

Drew Peterson, Forward, Celtics

Jordan Walsh, Forward, Celtics

Anton Watson, Forward, Gonzaga

Killian Tillie, Center, Grizzlies

Neemias Queta, Center, Celtics

Killian Tillie is a skilled big. Why did he never catch on with a team?
He seems like a good fit for the modern NBA and reminds me of Filipowski.

OMG STACKED! Summer League championship here we come!

After going undrafted I think you can say that he caught on with Memphis? He initially signed a 2-way contract with them that was later upgraded to a full 2 year deal. I?m not sure why they didn?t extend him after that or why no other team offered him a deal? His numbers were okay for his role except for his 3 point shooting. He was an over 40% shooter for Gonzaga, but only hit 34% for the Grizzlies.

He didn?t play a lot so he?s probably a rhythm shooter or couldn?t get his shot off. His defense was adequate in college but I don?t know if he can defend in the NBA?

I didn?t realize that he was completely out of the league last season? Not even G League? Did he play Euroleague? I?m at least interested in seeing how he performs now.

Edit: he sat out after having ankle surgery. He should be fully recovered after all that time off.

Springer had a nice game for himself. 23 points and six assists.

If he can't crack the roster I wonder if we flip him or just assign him to G League?

They will probably hold him until we need a piece later on in the season due to an injury or something like that. His $4m contract is one of our few pieces that we can trade outside of a rotation player. There's no point flipping him now for another player who won't play.

this is probably accurate. but my green-tinted glasses see a player who is very young, on a cheap contract, and already plays very good defense. if he develops a good 3 point shot i think he can be a rotation player for the celtics.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It is more likely he is given an extension than flipped, in my view.  There just aren?t that many players who make less than $4 million but are not on the vet minimum, and even fewer such players who could actually give us minutes.  The Celtics like him as a player, not as a walking trade exception.

(Note: I am not saying he is given an extension.  I think it is most likely he will remain through the year and reach free agency.  But I don?t think it likely he is ultimately traded).

I am going to try to rank the summer league players in terms of who I would like to see get a 2-way contract.  My assumption is that Springer and Queta already have regular roster contracts and I am further assuming that Scheierman as a 1st round pick will also get a regular roster spot.

My 3 right now would probably be:

Davison
Watson
Ramsey

To clarify, Springer, Queta, and Scheierman all have completely guaranteed contracts for this season and are thus ineligible to be on a 2-way with Boston.  Davison and Peterson have already signed 2-way contracts, so it really comes down to Watson and Ramsey for the final one.  I expect Watson to get it as a 2nd round pick, with Ramsey coming to camp and being a final cut so the Celtics can send him to Maine and keep him close if they have room later.

JD Davison already has a 2-way, along with Peterson, so there?s just one available unless the Celtics decide to cancel one. I think Watson will get it as I think Brad keeps the 15th spot open again.

Ramsey is looking like an NBA player and I think Tillie has too; after kicking off 2 years of rust, just not in Boston. They could get signed by Maine, but I think both are looking for more than that at this point. Summer League is just about raising awareness for both of them.

I understand who has 2-way contracts now.  But they are non-guaranteed and don't impact the salary cap or tax.  At this point, they really are not all that much different than Exhibit 10 contracts.  Now it may not be considered good team etiquette to waive someone this soon after signing them to a 2-way contract, but it can be done.  After having a 2-way deal last season, I am not sure the Celtics could or would offer Peterson (for example) an Exhibit 10 contract for this off season.

I am not suggesting it is really likely that they waive Peterson and even less likely that they waive Davison, but I think the option is and should be on the table.

Bright spots: Queta, Springer, Ramsey, Watson

Was pretty disappointed with Walsh. Didn?t see much improvement with JD either. Not a great SL team.

Walsh and Davison do not look improved at all.

Baylor needs to improve his defense but the stroke looks good as advertised.

Yep. I?d give Walsh one more year and cut JD loose.
