Kerr: 'I felt like an idiot' not playing Tatum vs. Serbia Steve Kerr reacts to Team USA's win vs. Serbia on Sunday and explains why he didn't play Jayson Tatum.

Proof he's not a great coach and that Curry/Klay/Draymond/Durant were all studs stacked in one team.

Even a caveman coaching can win multiple chips with that roster

When Kerr was dealing with injuries in the 2017 playoff run and had to stay out, Mike Brown took over and the team went... 11-0. Kerr benefits big time from having that stacked Warriors team (Curry, Klay, Draymond, Durant in their primes + really good role players).

Still think USA is gonna drop a game at some point in which case there'll be a lot more talk about him and his decisions.

Kerr?s insistence to play three guards at a time in this tournament is just dumb.

Booker can?t guard and neither can curry.
He continues to play Embiid who is terrible. But Tatum gets benched?

Start:
Holiday
Curry
James
Durant
AD

Second group
White
Edwards
Tatum
Bam
Embiid

I guess Tatum will never sign on to play on a team Kerr coaches from now on.  Kerr made an enemy .  We ll see how JT takes it over time.

Let?s see if he keeps his rotation to 10 guys in the next game. His reasons for not playing JT (and Hali for that matter) are unbelievable.

The way he stated you 'can't play more than 10 in a 40 min game' made it sound like that was an Olympic rule or something.  I was searching around for that.
But it is just his dumb explanation why Tatum didn't play.   Booker was useless out there a lot of the game, the announcers were trying to prop Booker by saying what a great def player he is.  The whole thing is just embarrassing.   Embiid has been an embarrassment as well.  Just play Bam and A Davis at the 5, we are fine.   Embiid is like a sloth out there.

Walton also went 39-4 coaching that warriors team I think then never won more than 37 games in a full season elsewhere. I?m not prepared to say Kerr is definitely bad or even average but it is hard to tell how a good coach he is with the talent
He has had.

All good, he gets to rest and if he goes into the season feeling he has something to prove then all the better

We?re throwing rocks at Kerr because he didn?t play Tatum in a blowout? Honestly, why do you want Tatum to even play? Let him catch a golf on the bench and stay healthy.

The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

The problem is Joel Embiid and whatever concessions were made to get him to play for team USA over France. He does not fit on this team.

Remove Embiid and his minutes allows you to start AD and then Tatum comes off the bench with Bam, Edwards and white. That second until would be fantastic.

Instead Kerr continues to put slow and out of place Embiid out there who does nothing. He was a minus 11 in the first half.

Booker also needs to be relegated to the end of the bench.

Everyone says let JT sit and get rest. Let it motivate him and JB for banner 19. That is fine. But in the mean time Kerr is going to run white and holiday into the ground.

This Olympics is just about James, curry and Durant?s farewell tour. But the problem is Embiid.

I don't get the Booker thing with Kerr.

I don't agree with Kerr on starting Embiid but at least I kinda get that one even though I think it's detrimental.

The lineup I want to see

Starters

G: Jrue
G: D White
F: Ant
F: LeBron
C: AD

Bench

G: Steph
F: Tatum
F: Durant
C: Bam

No Embiid. No Booker. No Haliburton.

D Booker would be next man up on my list to stretch the rotation from 9 to 10 men.

I haven?t watched one minute. I only pray every morning that there isn?t a news story about Tatum, Holiday or White getting hurt. Even lacking such a disaster, our stars will have a short summer and could get worn down at some point next season.

Tatum's biggest problems are LeBron & Durant. They are taking his minutes and role at the PF position which is the position he is ideally suited for in International play. Just like Melo was as well.

Tatum hasn't play well at SF. He has struggled with his ball-handling. He hasn't been able to get enough dribble penetration. He has struggled with his passing. The passing angles and timing are different in International ball because of the shorter three point line. The court is more compressed. Many guys struggle with that. Tatum has struggled with it. On top of thhose two elements, Tatum has also struggled to hit his outside shot in the warmup games. A continuation of his playoff struggles with his three point shot.

I also think he is having a tough time mentally figuring out his role / how to play. He isn't being aggressive enough looking to score like Durant or Melo. He is trying to be an all-rounder and playmaker which is obviously an issue when he isn't getting enough dribble penetration and struggling with his passing. It is wrecking his game. He needs to be more aggressive looking to score. Forget about being a playmaker. Just score. Like Melo. Like Durant. Like Barkley did on Team USA. Just attack.

Tatum has only scored well around the rim mostly off of cuts and off of post ups with fadeaways from 14-18 feet.

The truth is he only has himself to blame for being out of the rotation. He played badly in the warmup games. He got a chance to start instead of D Booker in at least 1 if not 2 of the games and failed to take the opportunity.

I don't have high expectations for Tatum in this tournament. I think he will be a 7th-10th best player on the roster.
