That doesn't really help the Hawks right now right?

That doesn't really help the Hawks right now right?

Was anyone expecting them to contend? I truthfully think they are better off tearing it up and doing a fire sale. See if a team like San Antonio or Minnesota would be willing to give up a ton for Young. They are already shopping a few others too even besides Murray.

True. I've always liked Murray, so I feel like I'd rather move Young and rebuild on the fly. I also don't like their choice at #1 so I'm out on the current state of the Hawks haha

If they only trade 1, then Hawks made the right decision. Young is better than Murray and far more marketable.  It isn't a coincidence that they gave up pieces that fit with Young for Murray and haven't come close to the ECF the last 2 years.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

What does Atlanta look like now

G: Trae Young, K Bufkin
G: Bogdanovic, S Bey
F: Risacher, D Hunter, D Daniels
F: Jalen Johnson, Nance
C: Capela, Okongwu

I am not sure what they do at SG or where Dyson Daniels fits in. I like Daniels but he doesn't seem a good fit next to Trae. Trae needs shooters. Not a guy who specializes in everything but shooting. Bogdanovic looks their best SG. He is a bit slow and vulnerable on defense. Bey is even slower. As is D Hunter.

Risacher looks like a 3+D player.

How was he the number 1 pick? Struggles to beat his man one on one. Limited shot creation. Limited midrange game. Outside shooter and dunker. Limited handles. Limited passing. This does not read like a go-to guy.

DeAndre Hunter is not slow on defense.  He was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.  Dude can defend 1-4.  He's a stud.

UVa had him switch onto Carsen Edwards in their Elite Eight matchup when Carsen was on fire.  So yeah, he can even guard point guards.

New Orleans have too many ball-happy shot-hungry players now with Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. Hard to keep all those guys happy.

I'd like to see them move CJ McCollum to the bench.

G: D Murray, Alvarado
G: H Jones, CJ McCollum, J Hawkins
F: B Ingram, Trey Murphy
F: Zion Williamson
C: (vacancy)

Jordan Hawkins is wasted here. Too many small guards on the bench with him, McCollum and Alvarado. They should trade CJ McCollum for a quality center. Need to shore up their depth at forward in FA to replace D Daniels & L Nance. Looks bare there.

I would kinda like to see Trey Murphy start instead of Herbert Jones. Murphy feels like a better offensive player. I'd like to have that next to D Murray.

Feels like they need to make one more trade. Ayton?

I was toying around today with possible trades if White was gonna get traded. This was almost the exact structure I came up with, but didn't like it because Daniels is unproven and we need guys that are ready to compete.

I'd say this is pretty close to White's value if he was traded. Maybe not a young prospect + 2 firsts, but that also depends on the market. There was a great market for Bridges, but not as much for Murray. I think the market for White would be somewhere in the middle due to his actual defense (vs Murray's potential defense), his ability to fit in with other players, and his floor spacing. Contract would play a part though.
