I knew Jrue be upgrade over Smart but I was up in the air bout winning a championship..I wrong bout Atlanta, thought they be top 4 in East & I predict Clippers be team to beat 🙄

I thought Brad was crazy...after putting together this fabulous roster, why would he let this inept coach try to coach them?

Joe was the biggest surprise of the season.

It's weird that people watching at home think that they know more about basketball than Brad and Mike Zarren. But what about timeouts and 3 pointers!!!

In retrospect, the anti- Joe crowd could not have been more wrong.

I was wrong to engage with so many posters that were denying the evidence of a great team presented almost every game. I should have sat quietly and read the Celtics get bashed without feeling the need to defend them. I don't play for the team, and we're all allowed an opinion.

No, Joe sucked last year as coach....I think his new staff of coaches set him straight this year.

Joe was a better coach this season than last. But giving the credit to his assistant coaches rather than to Joe for what the team accomplished is unfair.  He was thrust into the Interim HC position last season right before season start, and inherited assistants most of whom were Ime guys.  Joe chose the mantra of keeping things the same as much as possible, and deferred placing his coaching mark on the team until his first season was over.  What I did not realize until this season was how smart and prepared Joe was to be an NBA head coach. How he loves getting into the details, loves competition, facing adversity, and challenging his players without demeaning them.  I think he is a masterful coach, and would rank him among the top 5 in the NBA today.  Call it homerism, recency bias, whatever, I really think he is a great coach, and the Celtics are lucky to have him.

I?m not ready to call him a great coach yet, but to your original point, if Joe is going to get the lions share of the blame when things go south, he deserves to get a lot of credit when we have success. 

The guys taken a lot of heat over the last year and yes I?m sure his assistants helped him a lot of this year but he?s still done a good job getting this team over the hump.  I hope he continues to improve and wish him nothing but the best

I had my doubts about the Jrue trade, thought he was only marginally better than Smart especially looking at their current ages and also felt the trade to net him was somewhat steep even with Timelord being injury prone. Plus it left us a little thin at center.

But the reality is, we don't win Banner 18 without Jrue. His contributions especially in the ECF were massive, and he was a consummate professional and selfless all throughout.

Bucks fans said his defense regressed and I'll admit, it didn't look good last year against the Heat. But then again, Butler went off on them the same way Caleb Martin went off against us. That Heat run last year felt flukey. And he was far from the only one who sucked for MIL last year against MIA. Jrue was awesome this postseason though and he did great against the guys he faced including Doncic. Just hounding guys every series.

I never thought KP would last and give us such dominant minutes.  Kudos to how he was handled.  Just hope he doesn't pull a 1986-87 Bill Walton on us!

Some people will believe anything. No one is left to say that he doesn?t contribute to winning. It wasn?t true last year and isn?t true this year.

There have been complaints about JB through the years but I think only one poster was attached to the argument that he doesn?t contribute to winning.  JB has improved every season and is a hall of famer in waiting.  He didn?t need to win two playoff MVP awards to prove that he?s a contributor. Looking forward to what he?ll bring in 2024-25.

It?s been hogwash forever.  Think of the mental gymnastics needed to believe the Celtics could win 70% of their games over the last three seasons, as well as 9 of 11 playoff series, while having the player who is #2 in minutes over that run not contribute to winning.  Now also imagine one could believe that while simultaneously believing that the only player who plays more is not a top 6 player or whatever.  They can?t both be true ? imagine how good Jayson Tatum must be to carry the Celtics to such success with Jaylen Brown being deadweight for over 60% of the team?s minutes.  My brain would be tied up in knots with all the contortions needed to think that both are true.  Most likely they?re both false (the JB doesn?t contribute to winning argument being the more absurd), but both true?  Hogwash.

The icing on the cake is the irony of JB winning both the ECF & Finals MVPs the same season the aforementioned argument was being loudly vocalized.

While the 'doesn't contribute to winning' take is a bit ludicrous, JB's leap this season played a huge role in the C's dominance. I'm willing to bet about 95% of us here on CB didn't see that happening after the way 22-23 ended.
