Boston Celtics wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are considered to be among the most talented duos in the NBA, but veteran point guard Patrick Beverley isn't convinced they're a championship-winning combination.

When asked if he thinks the two will ever win a title together, Beverley responded, "No. Too much of the same player, they don't complement each other enough."

Ex-Boston Celtics center turned ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins was the loudest among a growing number of people in and around the NBA calling for his former team to trade either Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown on Jan. 7, the day after they blew a 25-point lead to the New York Knicks and fell out of the playoff picture.

"They can't coexist," Perkins told a national television audience.

This came three weeks after an anonymous general manager told Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer of the developing All-Star wing tandem, "I think there's pretty widespread belief that they don?t work together."

?We see all the things about, 'We can?t play together,' and everyone in the media saying one of us gotta go,? Tatum told reporters a few days later. ?We just had a talk about [how] we both want to be here and we both want to figure it out. There?s not many players in the league like JB. The grass ain?t always greener. ...

"I think the most important thing is we both want it extremely bad, and we want to try to figure it out together. For us to be on the same page is extremely important, knowing we've got each other's back and we're going to give it all we've got to figure this out, regardless of what people may say."

Brown, who recorded a triple-double in Saturday's game while Tatum added 19 points, pushed back against the notion that the two All-Stars can't work well together in his postgame press conference.

"I disagree. I think we can play together," Brown said, as seen in the video above. "We have played together well for the majority of our career and things like that. The last year or so hasn't gone as expected, but I think a lot of the adversity that we're kind of going through now is just going to help us grow and get better in the future.

"If we get over this slump and continue to learn, I think there's a lot of good basketball on the other side of this. So, I only can control what I can control."

The Jays shut ?em all up for good.  And I knew all of these idiots that were saying JB and JT couldn?t play together were wrong.  Dead wrong.  You win with star wing players.  And we have two of them.  Two elite homegrown wings.

Thank you JT.  Thank you JB.  Watching the both of you grow and develop has probably been the most enjoyable experience as a Celtics fan, on par with the 2008 Championship.  Number 0 and Number 7 will be retired.  Celtics legends.

These two will redefine the championship formula. Steph and warriors did it, with the league moving towards the three point line. Now I think JT-JB will have the league moving towards offensively gifted wings (aka Steph/Dame/Kyrie/other high volume shooting point guards will now become a thing of the past)
