The mavs arent that good. This is really about Denver melting down then Minnesota melting down even worse. The wolves coach s/b fired after that performance and KAT s/b traded. Such an abomination. Its like they had no clue. OKC gave Dallas a good run b/c they r a younger Celtics. Thats on them too for their horrible trade deadline. Id be re evaluating if i was those teams.

They wouldn't have gotten past the Clippers if Kawhi was fully healthy

The thing I was thinking before the finals but was too afraid to speak aloud because I fear jinxing the team is this: while everyone was crowing about how easy the Celtics' path to the finals was, the Mavs' path was highly overrated.

First round: a dysfunctional Clipper team without Kawhi, it took Dallas 6 games to get past them. Second round, the least experienced team in the playoffs (who looked better than they were because they had a first round matchup against a team missing their best player). In the conference finals, they get to avoid the actual best team in the West, Denver, because Minny is a nightmare matchup for the Nuggets and Murray is playing through an injury. Meanwhile, Dallas is a bad matchup for Minny and their best player is 22 years old.

Every team needs luck to win a championship or even reach the Finals. The Mavs are no different, they got some lucky breaks to get here.

It depends on how important you think defense is. He's right there with Jokic as the 2 best offensive players in the league but Luka has been a crash test dummy on defense in the finals.

I think James Harden is a good comp. But saying Luka is overrated is not saying he isn?t a great player. It is just saying that based on what we all have seen in the finals, do you still rate Luka as high overall as you did before the finals?

Seems like Luka is getting blasted everywhere.  A lot of it is deserved.  Most people can't stand his constant whining to the officials.  But he's beginning to get the same treatment Tatum has been getting.  Once you fail in the Finals as a superstar, you become that star player that the media lambasts and questions whether you can lead a team to a championship. 

Even out here in the Bay Area, some of the sports radio talk show hosts, some of whom are very knowledgeable, blasted Luka this morning.  One of those hosts this morning said that he stop whining and move his fat body on defense in front of someone and make a play.  And they praised Boston and the Jays.  They like the Jays' character and the unselfishness that Boston plays with.  They see that they've learned from the mistakes they made when we lost to Golden State in the Finals.

The Mavs are not good (for a team that made the Finals).  Their style of play is awful.  They're a star-centric, low assist team.  The basketball gods have been just (Porzingis injuries aside).  We're by far the better team.  We share the ball better and play Celtic basketball.  Nothing would be worse than losing to a team in a series that doesn't move the ball.

Yeah, it's crazy. I think we'd beat every NBA team handily, with the only questionable one being Denver. They're just not a great matchup for us with Jokic - especially with an injured KP - and I'd say that was a 50/50 series.

So just think - that big Minny comeback in game 7 very well may have been the catalyst for us to get banner 18. Crazy stuff.

Oh, and that also only happened because Devonte Graham hit a game-winner in the very last game of the season to keep them at second and matched up with Minny in the second round. If that doesn't happen and they beat the lowly Spurs, they have much better matchups and very likely end up in the Finals.

Isn't this exactly what people have said about the Celtics in past seasons? They overachieved this year, blowing it up because they didn't make the Finals would be a mistake.

That isn't to say that they shouldn't try to improve the roster this summer, but blowing it up just to blow it up would be like if we had traded Brown after 2022 or 2023. Just incredibly reactionary and short-sighted

If you think me posting a stat that shows Dallas is not good in game 4s is the only thing that makes you think the Celtics could lose that is pretty comical. Have some faith tonight. We are one step closer to this being a special season.
