Man the sudden love for the mavs by the basketball community is interesting. Not a lot of folks taking the Celtics.

I feel like Porzingis just got injured there.

It's amazing to me that a 64 win team is seemingly getting slept on right now.  What are we missing here?

It's weird.  I'll admit that I haven't watched the Mavs much so maybe they're that good.

Did the Celtics have an easy path to the finals?  Yes.  What did they do?  They won twelve out of fourteen games.

Were some of the games close?  Yes but wasn't not being able to win close games a major question all year with this team?

I don't know.  All of this would be more appropriate I think if they struggled up to this point but other than a couple losses (whatever) and some close wins (which are a benefit I think) they've been pretty dominant.

Guessing their argument is the C's haven't played anyone in the playoffs yet while the Mavs took out a somewhat loaded #4 seeded Clippers team, #1-seeded OKC, and #3 seeded Wolves all as underdogs. Also perhaps the Mavs beat the team that dethroned the defending champs therefore the Mavs are the best team. But Doncic and co have been rolling on teams who were favored, so that's something going on with 'em.

The Celtics also could've been down 3-1 to the Pacers had the Pacers not choked away three games with 95%+ win probability each game esp w/o Haliburton so there's another argument being made there lol

I guess if Boston wins no one on that craptastic network can say they did not beat anyone.

They all want to see the Celtics fail and they all are trying to get people to watch the series. NO ONE gave a rat's ass about the Mavs to start the playoffs. All of the sudden the Celtics are done in 6. It is crazy.

this dumb, ignorant media is about to wake a sleeping giant.

we have not played a 48 minute game yet.

i hope this is plastered all over the locker room.

the celtics will rise to the occasion now that they know they have to. we coasted yet still destroyed miami in 5, cavs in 5, indy in 4.

we have seen it too many times before. we knocked out kyrie and durant in 4. we beat giannis and then butler and bam plus embiid over the last 2 years in the playoffs.

now with kyrie back in town? are you kidding me? we will be ready top play i have zero doubts.

cannot wait to taste the tears of all media haters and mavs fans. it will be delicious.

LET'S GO CELTICS!

This crowd is gonna be so amped tonight.  Can't wait for the energy in the Garden.  Return of KP will have everyone going nuts.  If the Celts jump out early, it's gonna be incredible.

Part of me is concerned with the crowd. With the secondary market being out of control with the prices for the Finals, I'm worried the hard core Celtics fans won't be there to represent. Rich people that pay for these tickets, want to be entertained, and don't want to participate.

this is going to be the longest day at work of my life.

I work in a hospital and in one of the waiting rooms I saw a guy dressed in a Mavs shirt.

Almost got security to kick him out

Tell him you have vacancies available for people dressed like that.

"We're committed to your care as much as Kyrie was committed to staying in Boston!" guy waits the entire day all confused

lol
Back to wanting Joe fired.

I think it is pretty clearly recency bias.  They have already forgotten how good the Celtics were all year.

It is generally hard to know how two teams will stack up until you see them on the court.  DAL has been playing well but for example, MIN did not look that great to me.  Did MIN play bad because they aren't that good or did they play bad because DAL was that much better?  How would BOS have done vs MIN?  vs OKC?  Hard to know.

We are all Celtics fans so we are biased but we are also pretty well informed in general.  The Celtics still have some things to prove, that is true.  Just like DEN did before they won a title.  People tend not to believe a team can win a title until they win a title.  But why is that being applied to BOS but not DAL?  BOS has proven more than DAL?

Bottom line, I don't care and I am not that worried about what all the experts think.  I just want to see BOS win the first quarter tonight.  And then win every quarter.  Put some pressure on DAL and see how they hold up.

I get the concern. This will the the fourth Finals I’ve attended at TD and despite the pricing, the crowd has generally brought it in the games I’ve attended.  I think with the Kyrie subplot, the return of Porzingis, later start (more pregaming) & just a general sense of everyone’s hunger for redemption after 2022 that this crowd will be engaged and vocal as long as the Celtics don’t come out & start laying egg. Outside ‘02 ECF Game 3, the loudest I’ve ever heard the new Garden was actually a Finals game (‘08 Game 6).

We’ll see how it goes.

5 hours away

Btw I saw online, the actual tipoff time today will be 8:37 PM EST exact. So thankfully it's not like a 20-minute after tipoff start due to ads, etc.
