since the media (and fans on this board starting to talk themselves into us losing) keeps parroting that Dallas will win because they have by far the best player in the series I looked at the stats and its

Tatum is averaging 26ppg, 10.4rpg and 5.9apg. on 44.2 and 29%(ouch) splits. in the playoffs.

Doncic averaging 28.8ppg, 9.6rpg, 8.8apg on 43.8% and 34.3% from 3.

so better apg, ppg and 3pt% from doncic (although tatum is due to break out from his 3pt slump). but I just don't see this huge gap. Media acting as if they aren't in the same stratosphere.

and i'm not even going into defense where tatum is an elite defender. vs. Luka who gets hidden on defense by the mavs because of his deficiencies.

I see so many being like "how will the C's stop Luka and Kyrie". But no one ever asks the opposite question, who is stopping Jaylen and Tatum. Sounds like the national media already thinks Washington and DJJ will lock them down as well as White, Holiday, Porzingis, etc.

I'm expecting 4-2 but I wouldn't be surprised with 4-1 or 4-3. I think we have Dallas's measure, I think overall we have a better team than them but they have 2 guy that can go supernova no matter how well you defend them. If we play at our best and make our shots from 3 but defend well overall, even if one of Cryrie or Luka goes ballistic,  think we win 4-1. I don't think anyone can stop us if we're shooting 50% from 3 with the volume we are taking. Even if we don’t make our shots (because we don't always shoot 50% from 3) but defend well, restrict at least one of them as well as stop those easy lob dunks from Gafford and Lively, I’m guessing 4-2. But if we don’t defend well, and let those guys get going and their team grows in confidence then it might come down to clutch plays at the end and it could be anyone's series. As anyone who has followed along with the Celtics in the game threads this season, things don’t always go according to plan - we're an extremely optimistic fanbase outside actual game time, then during game time we turn into masters of insecurity at the first opposition run

I still think we are heavy favorites and deservedly so, there can be no excuses at all from our team if they take the Mavs lightly because “they’re only a 6 seed” or “they didn’t deserve to make it, we’ll wipe the floor with them.” Joes no.1 priority over timeouts and schemes and all thst technical stuff should be to get it in their heads thst Dallas deserve to be there and they shouldn’t be taken lightly. Because taking other teams lightly is this teams No1 issue, making games harder than they should be. If they come out focused and connected on the defensive end then they will be very hard to beat.

But we're 4 games away from Banner 18! I hope they are focused, locked in, don't take the Mavs lightly, and take care of business 

Still on track for my prediction of 4-2...I'[m hoping they go one better and win Game 5. Just finished watching the replay of the game...not really worried from an overall point of view. It's a humiliating loss to be sure but it was clear they had their minds on home and winning Game 5. Even after Game 3 I saw signs that they considered their road trip "mission accomplished" - JT and JB hugging midcourt after the game, their goal was clearly 1-1 on the road trip. Couple that with the Mavs absolutely having to win to stay alive, and we see the result we saw tonight. I don't think that's representative of what we will see in Game 5.

Our own poll shows that only 2 of 86 people thought it would be a sweep...33 of 86 thought it would be in 5 and 39 of 86 thought it would go 6. So yes it's humiliating the way they got blown out of the gym but in the overall scheme of things it's hardly wrist slitting time yet...save that for our 3rd straight loss if it happens

Also picked C's in 6, but now I'm fully confident in 5. I was expecting it to be 2-2 at this point, so still being up 3-1 now is nice.

Historically most Celtics teams that have had a chance to close a team out in the finals lost the close out game and won the next one.

I think we all would have taken 3-1 coming home for game 5 if someone told us this at the start of June
