But I like VGs list. Keeping Kornet and Tillman should be a priority but they may be pricey (!?!). Springer is good investment but still closer to a prospect than a rotation guy. Bye Bye Svi for sure. Feels like a safer move would be to target a big or a swing that can be somewhat reliable.

I don't know how pricey.  With the new salary structure, I am not sure guys like this will get anything more than min contracts.  I see it more likely that if they are not resigned, that it is because the Celtics find someone they like better, but still at a min contract.  There are a few contract mechanisms that teams can use, so long as they are not above the second apron, but there are not that many and probably better players to use them on.  I am going to have to refresh on all of the new contract restrictions.

I need to find the article but it stated it's more likely we keep X and not Kornet.  They projected Kornet to Memphis with a nice raise.  Queta should replace Kornet.

As for the draft I think the Celtics need a wing to replace Hauser unless they feel Jordan Walsh will get those minutes next year.  Either way the C's need to groom a replacement for Al.

I suspect the Cs will trade down from #30 to save cap space and like last year attempt to add a additional future 2nd. I do agree that attempting to find an Al replacement would be great. His level of versatility is just so uncommon. My two favorite options who should be available 30-40 based on mocks would be Adem Bona and Izan Almansa

We are not going to find an Al replacement by trading down.

Stevens needs a high-iq, high-motor guys that could be developed as our future rim-protector

Finding an AL replacement at 30 is probably just as unlikely. The only big man prospects available at that point have serious flaws.
I'm bitter.

This. I really like DaRon Holmes from Dayton. Think he fits the bill.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10116347-projecting-landing-spots-for-celtics-top-free-agents

This is a draft thread but the FA/roster status plays into this.  The Celtics have 9 players signed for next season:

Brown, Tatum, Holiday, Porzingis, White, Horford, Pritchard, Springer, Walsh

Queta and Hauser have Team Options that I think are both likely to be picked up.  Brissett has a player option at about $2.5M.  Seems like he sticks around also.

There are 3 players that become UFAs, Kornet, Tillman, Mykhailiuk.

A very likely scenario is that everyone but Mykhailiuk comes back.  That only leaves one roster spot.  If we make a first round pick, it becomes a guaranteed contract (like Walsh).  A second round pick can be signed to a two-way (like Davison).

As it stands, it appears likely that we will have Springer, Walsh, and Queta on the regular roster.  That is 3 spots taken up by "prospects", players who in the past are not part of the rotation and don't contribute much.  We probably don't want or need another prospect on the regular roster.  Better to take a second rounder and put him on a two-way.

Don’t we have two draft picks? #30 and a 2nd rounder?

Agree with all of that. Also don’t forget Davison and even Drew Peterson back in the stable plus those Euro-stash guys. Any of them could be signed to a cheap contract for that last roster spot.

I keep hoping Edey will be available. May not be the highest upside guy, but I feel like he could come immediately and provide some good rotation level minutes.  Similar to a KO type pick i.e. a nice solid bench level player for years, but probably not going to be a high level player.  At 30, you really couldn't ask for more, especially for a team competing for titles.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip
