They haven’t needed him. They’ve bought time (extra time now) to give him us much rest and rehab needed.

My guess was the finals was always the plan

yes! he woulda been ready HAD WE needed him for the ECF. we did not so why announce it or rush him back? EXACTLY.

just say ok he will be ready for finals now (since we did not need him for ECF)

which is exactly what they did
LET'S GO CELTICS!

“I’m not sure. I don’t know yet,” Mazzulla said when asked Wednesday about a Game 1 return in an interview with Zolak and Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub. “I do know he ramped it up on the court a little bit. Like I said, he’s working really, really hard. There’s been a couple shootarounds where he hasn’t done anything with the team but has been in a 1-on-1 setting kind of ramping it up with the intensity level of it. He’s been getting better and better.” – via Booth Newspapers

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Doesn’t sound like he ‘d been much help in the last series with Pacers.

Good thing the rest of the team put them away and kept him off the floor.

I think the bigger question to ask is if KP would start right away or come off the bench first?

He’d start I think.  It’s a little easier to manage minutes at the beginning of the game and second half, so if he has restrictions starting him might be better.

I also expect he would start since it’s a musculature injury and it would probably be better for him to play as soon after warming up as possible and not sit around on the bench. The transition would be less extreme.

I predict that he starts game 1. Even if he isn’t 100%, how much different will it be in 3 more days?  Manage his minutes, sure, but he will have 3 days rest in Boston before game 2.  It is go time.

Yeah , if he is gonna play at all , he has got to get moving soon, shake out cob webs , test the body , get some wind back.

You know if they lose Game 1, the narrative in sports media is going to be "Did KP's return screw up team chemistry?" or something along those lines.

I honestly think KP should come off the bench. He’s been out a while and will likely be rusty.

Can anyone think of any outcome that doesn't include a negative narrative coming out of some national media?
