A gadget back with the Pats second pick?  ???

Feel like there were bigger holes to fill.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

A good receiver out of the backfield. Good runner and excellent blocker.  This is a weapon for Maye.

So far they've taken Campbell, Henderson and Williams. All on offense to help Maye

I am hoping they grab an edge rusher on day 3.

I?d be fine going TE, DL, or EDGE with this next Pats picks. Some intriguing guys out like like Helm, Farmer, Swinson, & Robinson.

LOVE the Swinson pick! Surprised he fell to them

This has honestly been a great draft for the Pats

Obviously scouting and development will be just as important as draft-day execution, but I don't think they could have done a better job during the draft.

LT, RB1, WR2/3, Barmore insurance, top C in the draft, top K in the draft, 3rd round value in the 5th... these guys will still need to "hit" but you can't ask for much more. For those not excited about Campbell, it was a 3 player draft and nobody was going to make a worthwhile offer to get to 4. It takes two to tango, and locking down LT with a hard working, culture fit who is also tops in the draft is a no-brainer.

I don't recall seeing a roster upgraded as broadly in a long time.

Offense: LT, RT, C, WR1, WR2/3, RB1
Defense: CB2, DT, LB, EDGE

+ head coach, future C, a few quality depth pieces, Barmore hopefully back

A lot remains to seen, but this is fun stuff compared to the last few years!

Yes! If you are a Pats fan and are disappointed in what Vrabel did this off-season, I?d like to suggest that maybe you had unrealistic expectations.  He?s bolstered the defense and actually built some depth, he signed a #1 WR and selected one in the third. Yes, we?re not 100% sure Diggs will be all we hope from a legit 1 but we?re moving in the right direction. Selected a James White receiver/blocker with the 2nd rounder.  Got the best LT in the draft, I get the imperfections that may either make him a mediocre LT in the NFL, or, make him a Guard - but likely a good one.  And (to boot) got the top kicker in the draft - hopefully taking care of that position.

Not perfect, but a huge move in the right direction in one draft.  As long as Maye is what most think he is, he?ll be better protected, will have more weapons, and will have Josh McDaniels coaching.  The defense also has to be better.

Hope he?s right.

It remains to be seen if Williams knack for separating from defensive backs will translate over to the NFL ranks. But, the 22-year-old wideout already has a top supporter in former All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith.

If I can go back in time and say who reminds me of who would I like to be like Kyle Williams, Smith said. That?s the kid that reminds me of me. He reminds me of [my] demeanor. He?s gonna punch you in the mouth. He?s gonna look at you. So I really like this kid. I really like him.

Smooth hands, good releases, attacks the ball like he?s a dog, Smith said of Williams. He?s my number two or three wide receiver in this draft that I just actually love. Strong at the catch point, really, like the kid ? explosive with the ball in his hands. The only thing is he lacks detail in his route running

He?s a fantastic football player. I like him. I really like him a lot, Smith said of Williams, adding: I mean, for me, I think he?s the newest version of [Smith?s jersey number] 89 that?s out there, behind [Bengals All-Pro] Ja?marr Chase.  I mean, I?m just saying, the guys that remind me of myself. That skill set is explosive. He?s dynamic with the football in his hands.

Looks like the consensus is that the Pats had a great draft:

League wide, it does crack me up that some evaluators can give a draft class an "F", while others give in an A.

Draft grades have to be amongst the dumbest things in sports media.
