On the bright side, it had Enrico Pallazzo trending on Twitter.

The league has to suspend him to start the season. At least a month.

There is still a chance that Ohtani just was robbed by a close friend. The demands for a pound of flash without any information is pretty outrageous. This article has all the kind of possible outcomes of this.

https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2024/3/23/24109952/shohei-ohtani-gambling-intepreter-mlb-investigation-biggest-questions
If you believe that I'd like to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn.

I mean seriously, his friend steals 4.5 million, but directly transfers 500k on 2 different occasions directly to a book maker.  Why not steal all of the money the same way.  why create such a blatantly obvious paper trail?  It didn't happen.  It makes no sense.  Ohtani paid the bookie directly either 1. because he was helping a friend who got into trouble or 2. because the friend was betting on Ohtani's behalf.  Either way it is 2 direct payments from Ohtani to an illegal bookmaker.  That is a suspendable offense by itself.  That is why he has to be suspended.  That actually happened.

Why don't we actually just wait to see what actually happened? You are acting like the guy stole the money from you. We literally just had an executive for the jags get like 24 million from the organization.

I'll add that I think it is very unlikely this guy just stole the money from him, but I don't think it is impossible.
the investigation will determine how long the suspension is, but he absolutley should not play to start the year because 1 million dollars was transferred directly from his account to a bookie. And that happened months ago. The money wasn't transferred last week, Ohtani discovered it, and reported it.  If that had been the case, I'd find what he is saying now far more credible.  He sat on this supposed theft for months and only came forward when the federal investigation became public.

If they don't suspend him, the hypocrisy of MLB will have no bounds.

I don?t know who bumped this thread today but seeing this made me chuckle. Guy is in jail now. MLB seems ok. If we did worst takes of the year this would get some votes

That "singer" has won 4 grammy awards in country "music".  Once again proving why we can drop music from the description of country "music".  That was awful.

Were the voters drunk all four times???

That was brutal.  I don't know if she was nervous, not prepared, or what.

I checked out some of her songs online.  Overall pleasant enough.

It's wild that the anthem got all of the coverage.  I don't see anybody, anywhere, talking about the results.

4 time nominee. Not 4 time winner.

Distinction noted, although it technically still requires votes to be nominated.  (That said, there is way too much music to listen to even in your categories for all but the most dedicated, so a good agent can greatly increase your chances).

The Derby itself was pretty decent.  I hadn't watched a full one in many years and did last night (albeit with pausing and doing other things so I could come back and fast forward through the dead time).  For the 3 hour show I probably ended up watching less than an hour of actual hitting.  It had some suspense and theater.  I think I'd lower the the time to two minutes, like they did in the finals.
Yup

Said that to my spouse that she didn?t look sober, although I thought (and still think, frankly), she was on more than just booze.

Eeeeeasy now.  While this lady is certainly nothing special, some of the best songwriters, vocalists, musicians, etc, that this country has ever produced come from country music.

Jarren Duran wins the All Star game for the AL. The young talent is starting to show up. Loved the Montgomery pick at #12.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Nice moment for Duran. He crushed that one!

Houcke on the other hand looked a wee bit shaky.
