Good call by C2021.  Reports they signed Shula for the rest of the season. Wonder why only a 10 day for Bassey?

Hate to be Machiavellian about it, but in case he gets hurt, or someone else gets hurt.  If they need someone different they cannot afford to release Bassey if they sign him for a rest of season deal now.  Most likely he gets a second 10-day and then a rest of season, but they have to keep their flexibility.

I had to look up what it means to be Machiavellian.  I agree, it probably applies.

It makes sense I guess.  I believe that the cost of a couple of 10-day contracts plus a rest of season contract once those are done would be the same as a rest of season contract starting now.  Is that correct?  So if the cost is the same, why not keep the flexibility as you describe.

In the end, I don't expect Shugla or Bassey to play all that much, not even in the regular season much less in the playoffs.  So if Bassey gets hurt, does it really matter?  I respect that the BOS Front Office is really working to get the most out of every roster dollar, I just don't think in this case it is going to make much difference.

I remember being surprised that they could not find a spot for Bassey. I liked him in SL.

Hah!  I don?t think so. Sounds like a strategy to use with a mature, high bbiq team.  I think the proof is the pudding. It?s worked.  I?m unclear if this is an every game conversation (I doubt it) or a one time meeting where he thought it might be useful to put players in a coaches mindset. And, to give them voice. This is motivational for the right players and I don?t think is evidence of a coach who doesn?t know what they are doing. Either way the lineups and matchups have been determined, the Celtics have won a lot of games and done so without their superstar.
