I get the worry with Vucevic possibly being another Fournier here.

However, I think the guy needs a chance and some time. He even admitted in an interview a few days ago this is the first time he's been in a situation like this in his career and having to also adapt in the Mazzulla system. (Although idk, I thought he was with some good teams in the past like Orlando late 2010s, but maybe I'm misremembering?)

And remember, we loved Simons around the trade deadline and we love Luka Garza now. But most of this forum (including myself) thought those two were stiffs or meh players very early in the season. They took some time to grow/improve and adapted here. Now Garza looks like a legit backup big. Simons got better defensively too, to a playable level after looking toast early.

I'm sure they'll also try for a bigger fish in the offseason using Porzingis TPE and other resources, but I'd also be perfectly fine bringing back Vucevic on a reasonable MLE-type deal to play the Horford role. And he might be down for that too if he wants to contend.

Jayson Tatum is AVAILABLE tomorrow vs the Cavs.

Nikola Vucevic is the only player in the injury report ? he?s out with a right ring fracture he had a procedure for this morning.

That's actually insane. I thought for sure he'd sit out just to see how he feels the day after his first game. Personally I hope he doesn't play the OKC game, because I fear Lu Dort...

Paul Pierce on the Jayson Tatum/Jaylen Brown situation: You got to understand these guys, they?ve been together for quite a while now. I?ve been around them. They?re good friends. They truly don?t care who gets the credit. I mean, we saw Brown had a magnificent run a couple years ago. He won MVP honors of the Eastern Conference and the NBA championship. And there was no jealousy. They like, Hey, okay, if it?s time for Brown to lead them right now, if that?s what it?s going to take for them to win, Tatum?s willing to sacrifice that.

We are not the favorites of course but we are absolutely close enough to dream of a title this year . But to do that you really need to be the most fortunate of the group of top teams. We will need Vooch to pull that off. He is a fantastic option down low especially when everything is not dropping . He attracts attention down there and neither Queta or Garza can spread things  out as well ( even though Garza CAN shoot it).Vooch is necessary.

The Boston Celtics have committed nearly 100 fewer live ball turnovers than any other NBA team this season

The Portland Trail Blazers on the other hand...

That's actually crazy. That has been a focus of Brad's and Mazz's for a decade now, but still.

Just imagine 100 more shots than any other team just from this stat.

at 1 point per shot, that's 100 more points because of this stat alone.

That's 2 additional points per game.

All things considered, I'd like to avoid the Knicks till the ecf.  Still think they pose the most matchup issues in the East.

It is not just the increased shot attempts; we would have to look at total turnovers for this, and perhaps the Celtics have more dead-ball turnovers than some teams, although we know the Celtics protect the bal in general.  It is the reduction in fast-break opportunities that are created by live-ball turnovers.

Pritchard and D White have been sensational.

Pritchard = 5.4apg to 1.3 turnovers = 4:1 AST:TOV
D White = 5.7apg to 1.8 turnovers = 3:1 AST:TOV

Playing two guards together (Jrue & D White before this) gives much more ball security.

Then they double down and play two SFs at forward who have more ball-handling & passing ability than typical PFs. That gives further ball security.
