Vuc to have surgery on his broken ring finger tomorrow.  He'll be out for one month.

If he comes back in a month, there will be 4 games left until the playoffs.

Not ideal for a guy who is still settling in.

Won't be surprised if at that point we just stick with Garza for the limited backup big minutes. I honestly don't think there's that big if any of a gap between them at this point.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yeah, honestly he had not really caught up to what Garza had been giving us.  I assumed he would by the end of the season with that additional familiarity, but now I wonder if Garza reclaims the #2 role for the rest of the season.

Jinx!

Although I do think that Queta is substantially better enough on defense to have a gap between the other two.

Vucevic is better at everything. This is why they traded for him. He just needs to get familiar with this Celtics team.

Problem is that opportunity to get familiar is now lost.  Luka was very serviceable heading into the trade, and his understanding of what to do made up for most deficiencies in ability.  I guess the bright side is we had a quality 3rd-string center.

I think at this point in their careers Luka is better than Vuc especially chemistry wise.

I see Vucevic as a big upgrade over Garza.  For the 12 games that Vucevic has been here:

Vucevic     NRtg = +13.5    DRtg =  99.0
Garza        NRtg = -16.5    DRtg = 121.8

I know it does not always look pretty with either, but Vucevic has been much better than Garza.  This will hurt because Tatum will not have time to learn to play with Vucevic.  Vuc has 12 games (really 11 games plus 2 minutes) with everyone else, but only 2 minutes with Tatum.

Garza has been here the whole season and Vooch has been in Boston for a few weeks. Things take time. The guy was averaging 17pts/9rebs/3ast for Chicago a month ago..

I?m assuming Vooch will still be around the team while injured, like Tatum was. Unless they are locking him in a storage closet during practices and games, I think he will still be able to familiarize himself with how the Celtics play on both ends. He?s a very intelligent player. I?m not worried about him figuring it out.

I did gee a little bad for Garza when the Celts picked up Vucevic.  The guy had earned his minutes, then the completely disappeared.  That experience and reliability level are very nice to have in the back pocket now.  Just sucks to have the whole team together for just one night.

They have been remarkably healthy with the exception of Tatumnof course.

I know it's just one game with Tatum back, but I liked seeing White shoot 8-16 from the field.

For most of this season I've seen him shoot 6-22, 5-17, 4-15, 7-24, etc.  Too much volume, which could be because he had to shoot at the end of the shot clock more often than he might have liked.

I just feel like Tatum's passing is so crucial for a guy like White.  Not only to get more open looks, but also because White won't be Offensive Option #2 as much.

Per the Celtics, Vucevic has had "successful ORIF surgery to stabilize a fracture in his right ring finger," with the team also reporting that the "surgery was performed at New England Baptist Hospital by Dr. Herve Kimball" and was "assisted by Celtics Team Physician Dr. Tony Schena."

The Celtics also share that Vooch will be reevaluated in three to four weeks, with further updates on the former Chicago Bulls big man to be shared as they develop.

I've been a bit of a hater with Vooch, but I haven't really bought in yet. I worry about his ability to be a net positive in the playoffs.

Also if the Celtics have something like $20 million to work with this off-season, I'd rather they spend it on guys other than Vucevic.

Happy to be proven wrong!

I've been quite happy with him.  I don't think our guys are used to getting him the ball in the post enough.  Not surprisingly, I'd like to bring him back on a $10-ish million deal
