Wonder if there might be any interest in Jeremy Sochan.  I see that he was waived by the Spurs, don't know the details though.

He would be too expensive for us to sign until the last week or so of the season.  We basically have no financial wiggle room to sign non-rookies if the team wants to stay below the tax (which they do).

He'd be a nice fit but I guess that the money would over ride that...

I'm not sure he'd even be a great fit tbh.  Sochan overlaps with some guys who arguably already don't get as many minutes as they should.  Probably a better small ball big than the guys we have, but that role is not in such high demand that I'm making a roster move to fill it.

We're good at forward with JB, Hauser, Walsh, Gonzalez.  Even better if we get Tatum back.  At big we have Queta, Vuc, a little bit of Garza depending on matchups, Amari in an emergency.  If we really need somebody to man the 5 in a small ball lineup just use Walsh.  No room for Sochan imo, cap space or no cap space.  We actually could use a guard off the bench though, so hopefully Harper can help us there.

Got to say, to be 35-19 without Tatum and the 2 seed in the East is actually bonkers.

Seriously, just take a step back and consider it. We went from thinking about tanking or even wondering if they'd reach 35-40 wins, to they've reached 35 wins before the All-Star Break lol. Easily on pace for 50+ wins too. And then they likely add Tatum in March  :)

This East is there for the taking. Not saying we definitely will win it, and it also depends how Tatum looks. But no team, not even DET/NY is "invincible" looking.

Also, Vucevic was a sneaky good add not just for this year but potentially the next 2-3 years. The age might seem a bit scary but Horford was still very effective here in his age 35-38 years seasons. Vucevic has been a durable guy and he's basically a walking double-double most nights on the court.

If they can add another productive player this offseason to go with Vucevic-Tatum-Jaylen-White-PP and a decent bench of Queta/Hauser/Hugo/Walsh, that's the next iteration of our championship team. Hell, if Simons wanted to come back on a discounted deal to be a microwave scorer off the bench for us I'm all for that too if nothing else materializes.

Its pretty incredible.  Even if they go just .500 the rest of the way, they're a 49 win team.   That exceeds pretty much everyone's expectations back in the fall.

The great thing about it is that the success has been due to a lot of players stepping up their games.  Jaylen of course has elevated to the top tier of NBA stars, but Pritchard proved himself and NBA starter (despite being now back on the bench), Queta went from borderline unplayable to a key player, Walsh and Scheierman went from completely unplayable to positive rotation pieces, and so on.  Great to see so many players taking up the challenge, and that is a testament to both the and the entire organization overall, from the coaches working behind the scenes to get them ready for the money, and the scouting and front office for finding the guys with work ethic and having the patience to stick with them.  Goodness knows I have traded or cut Queta, Walsh, and Scheierman in my imagination dozens of time over the past 18 months.  It has truly been a whole organization effort to be in this position with all the change that occurred in the last 9 months.

Surprising.  I thought for sure he would want to go somewhere with more guaranteed playing time.  The Nets should just claim him on waivers and give him a look.  He fits into the room exception they have yet to use.
