I'd rather seem do well than poorly.   It had to help his game going up against Al all those practices.

He will definitely be the number one center barring some trade, as I see it.   There were times when I thought he outplayed Kornett at times.  Luke was just better at the team basketball stuff and rotating. Queta is more of an old school center.

Q is one of the reasons why I?m excited for the upcoming season. Maybe he?s our surprise package.

If you get a chance, check out Queta highlights. Very active, lots of movement off screen and rolls, tons of confidence. Hits a 3 and a late shot clock off the dribble middie. It?s possible it was just ?one of those nights? but even taking into account the not NBA level of players, he looks very capable. Frequently getting himself open. Arrow pointing up for sure.

And Q can't be at his ceiling.  He's only now going to get the PT that will likely improve his game.  I agree with all that he doesn't need to great.  If he is good enough doing his job defensively and on the boards, the C's will be an interesting team to watch prior to Tatum's return.  I know many are hoping for a lottery pick next year and that might happen, but I think just as likely this team wins around 45 and is a 6 (or so) seed.

The Boston media took on the Celtics coaching staff in a full court scrimmage.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Per Michael Scotto:
The Boston Celtics are waiving two-way player RJ Luis, league sources told hoopshype. Boston acquired Luis from the Utah Jazz in exchange for two second-round picks and Georges Niang. Luis was recently Big East Player of the Year for St. John?s.

I know we gave up the picks to get rid of Niang, but I was kind-of hoping that Luis would be worth one of those 2nd round picks rather than just filler technically needed for the trade to happen.

I wonder who we'll sign with the open two-way spot. No reason to waive Luis unless we have somebody else in mind

This did not surprise me. He was lower in the rotation on Sunday than all the other 2-ways and invitees.  I expect it will be either Harper Jr. or Moore Jr. unless it is someone else who comes available in the coming days.

He should have stayed in college. Got poor advice from someone.

Definitely loved Boucher, Hugo and Minott this preseason. Boucher should probably start at PF and Hugo + Minott will definitely have solid roles. Garza was decent too off the bench, I don't think he'll be a "bum" here.

Not really impressed with Walsh and Baylor. Idk, it's only his second year but the Baylor pick is looking even worse IMO, he really didn't encourage me this preseason.

We're still going to get killed on the boards and frontcourt most nights, but I guess we can hope Queta can take some further strides every game and Tillman can be decent hopefully.

Simons feels like a prime "walking asset" kind of guy who will get moved this deadline or next offseason but for now on the team, not a bad 6th man to have at all. There'll be rough moments with him but his scoring may be needed some nights if any of the regulars are off. I will say he doesn't look "toast" on defense like a lot of people were saying in the offseason, but we'll see, they didn't play too many opposing starters in preseason so idk. Tonight he felt active on both ends.

While Brown did not return to the game -- a surprisingly thrilling 110-108 win over the Raptors -- head coach Joe Mazzulla expressed confidence that it won't be a serious situation for his star.

"I think he'll be OK," Mazzulla said. "I just talked to him after [the game], he said he'll be fine, but I didn't get a full update."

Shams Charania: The Boston Celtics are signing Ron Harper Jr. to a two-way NBA contract, agent Drew Gross of WME Basketball tells ESPN. Harper earns Celtics roster spot and enters a fourth NBA season after having strong preseason.

Yes, just saw that too.  Seems like he will get some opportunity on a team with only 14 players and one out for a while.

That's not a surprise.  As noted in another thread, I think Harper is closer to the NBA than any of the other 2-ways and camp invites.  I'd trust him in an NBA game, something I can't say of any of the other non-rostered players.
