According to a Reddit thread posted before the signing, Minott had asked the Wolves to decline his option so he could find a team with a better path towards playing time.  It does really seem Brad is aboard the single-season tank train, taking flyers on guys who could be in our rotation next year at a low cost while feeding them minutes.  Looks like we?ll have an elite NBA backcourt and a G league frontcourt.  Maybe we will find some diamonds in the rough.

With Myles Turner and Kevin looney both changing team here's a list of the longest tenured active players with a single NBA team:

Curry: 16 seasons
Green: 13 Seasons
Giannis: 12 Seasons
Embiid: 11 Seasons*, missed first two with injuries
Jokic: 10 Seasons
Booker: 10 Seasons
Jaylen Brown: 9 Seasons
Jamal Murray: 9 Seasons*, missed one with injury.
Tatum: 8 Seasons
Adebayo: 8 Seasons

That's the entire active list of 8 or more with just one team. Dwight Powell is SOMEHOW still on the Mavericks and has been or 11 seasons, but he actually played 5 games or Boston in 14-15 so not a single team player.

Cleveland is as well, but they weren?t over it last year.  So next summer they will look like us this summer, although maybe without a major injury to a star.

Free agent forward Josh Minott has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. Celtics executives finalized the new deal with Minott's agent, Aaron Turner of Verus.

Do we have a Josh Minott expert on these boards?

Never even heard of the guy. I guess the Cs are gonna need two of Brown/White/Pritchard to score 30 every night to win.

It will be fun to see Hauser jack up 15 3s a game and PP get 20 shots up as well.

Between White, JB, PP, Hauser and Simons they are going to shoot 100 3s a game. And honestly its their only path to winning games. Throw in Fat Niang and he will add to the total from 3. Really the only thing he does well.

No. Four teams finished over in 24-25, the Celtics, Bucks, Suns, Wolves.

But of those teams the Wolves are setting up to be JUST under this year. They also aren't yet in the repeater tax like the Celtcis are. The Bucks are setting up to maybe avid the tax entirely by letting Lopez Walk and stretching Lillard. The Suns traded KD because they have no path to building a contender and may yet stretch Beal to get under the 2nd apron.

The Cavs will probably be over the 2nd apron this year, but basically there's a two year window for being in the 2nd apron before the real draconian draft pick penalties kick in.

The problem the Celtics faced was not just the 2nd apron, its being in the 2nd apron for that second year while also being a repeater tax team and having no real shot with Tatum out.

We couldn't afford a top second rounder, but we can sign scrubs to guaranteed deals?

Brad is fantastic at what he does but he struggles with the draft. These 2 signings are just two scrubs that fill out the roster and give them practice bodies.

There is no "finding" something in Garza. Same with the other guy. Just gap year filler.

A top second rounder would have been cheaper than these guys right? rookie min vs vet min?

The trade of #32 wasn't about money. The 2nd round exception of 2.3 million for that pick was the same, maybe even a little less, than a vet minimum contract. Garza for example signed for 2.67 million in year one. Trading it saves them no money. That trade was about getting back some future 2nd rounders as trade ammunition.

The confusion here is that trading back from #32 to say #46 COULD save you money, if the guy you trade back for takes the rookie minimum since the rookie min is only like 1.3 million. But that's not what they did, they signed their seconds to two ways and filled the roster with vet mins.

Minott seems to have a good amount of overlap with Walsh and Hugo. I suppose if you have 3 wings that are athletic, high character, cut, and try on defense you can expect one of them to figure out how to shoot.

Hard to see the upside with Garza, but I do think when you sign young players that dont have character or injury issues to vet mins picking from a team that had an overcrowded front court isnt the worst idea.

Still think a Niang + seconds for Nick Richards deal works and helps. Richards also makes 3M less so it can work where we get under the second apron again

Think we're waiting on the Al decision. If that happens, then I agree with you. Don't love that we are now hoping that our bigs rotation will be anchored by Nick Richards, but here we are
