Barring more injuries, Celtics are still a playoff team next season.  Wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see them avoid the play-in also.

I don?t know about that. If healthy, these teams will all have more talent than the Celtics for this coming season.

Cavs
Knicks
Magic
Pacers
Pistons
Hawks
Bucks
76ers
Heat
Bulls

Even the Raptors and Hornets have more talent.

Hornets: Lamelo, Sexton, Miller, Bridges, Knueppel,  Grant Williams, Mann, Green, Salaun

Raptors starting 5: Quickley, Barrett, Ingram, Barnes, Poeltl

So which of these teams do you have the C?s beating out? Feel like play-in would be best case scenario.
I have a hard time imagining we could catch any of Cleveland, New York, Orlando, Detroit, Atlanta.

Anyone else we could be better than. Milwaukee is horrible outside Giannis and he hasn't been an ironman lately. Chicago is just listless. The Hornets are still horrible. The Raptors have more talent but it doesn't fit well. The Pacers should be better but you never know how they'll be without Haliburton coming off a long year. Heat aren't any good unless they make a move. 6ers will be beholden to health again.

We wont be good but the whole East is very flawed. Could easily see us a 6 seed.

I can see both sides on this.  the only teams I think are clearly above the C's current roster (barring further changes which have to be expected --  no way this team does not bring in a decent starting center) are
Cleveland, NY, Magic, Pistons, Bucks.
The other teams aren't clear cut better but certainly could be.   Good example is Philly.  Healthy Embiid and PG and they're clearly better but would you bank on that?  Hawks, Bulls, Heat need to prove it -- not enough consistency to show they can put it together for a good season.  Lastly, the Pacers.  They don't have Haliburton -- just like we're missing Tatum but I don't see their next 2 players being as good as Brown and White.  They do have better depth and could very well outdo the C's based on that but Hali is who makes that team run.

C's could squeak in at the 6th slot, probably a play-in or just miss and end up in the lottery.  It all depends on the health of JB and White as well as Simons showing he can be motivated to play adequate D.   The question comes down to what else can Brad do to improve the roster.  If he can get Al and Luke back, that's not insignificant but only goes so far.  Al can't play a lot of minutes and Luke is useful when he doesn't have to bang for rebounds which without Tatum to help him, is something we're going to notice every night.

I am impressed at how good the Pacers depth chart still looks without Haliburton.

G: Nembhard, McConnell
G: Mathurin, B Sheppard
F: Nesmith, J Furphy
F: Siakam, Toppin
C: M Turner, Isaiah Jackson

It is still a quality side without Hali. Mathurin is a great stand-in for the starting lineup. They have enough depth on the wing with Sheppard (decent reserve) and Furphy (question mark similar to Scheierman for us).

That looks a 45-49 win team to me.

The East has a lot of teams in that win bracket. Very little separation between the 2nd-9th seeds in the East. They could wind up in almost any order depending on luck & injuries. The Celtics included (assuming they keep Horford).

* 1 top team = Cleveland
* 2nd-9th place teams = Orlando, New York, Indiana, Philly, Atlanta, Boston, Milwaukee, Detroit
* 2 teams fighting for play-in spots = Chicago, Toronto

When 6pm comes around do we think there will be any movement on the Celtics' end? Or is Brad operating on a different timeline.

Feels like there needs to be a trade happening pretty soon? That or he's just legitimately giving up on the season before it even begins.

My prediction is that we come to terms with someone out of left field right away, while Horford and Kornet are listening to offers. Then, I think we resign at least one of the two.

My prediction is that Brad needs to wait for teams to sign there free agents before anyone will trade with him. Brad needs to get rid of salary, I don?t think teams want to do that until they?ve had their pick of the open market.

He could move DWhite, Brown, Hauser or Pritchard but doubt he will. They?re will be tinkering to add a low cost big or two but Niang, Simmons won?t be bringing back value until the end of summer or more likely trade deadline.

Salary dumping is the priority doubt that?s happening for awhile.

How is Chicago listless when they were right around .500 last year and made the play-in?

Giddey, White, Dosunmu, Buzelis, Vucevic with Okoro, Huerter, Z Collins, Jones off the bench is likely a better rotation than the C?s will have. They also have a very good coach.

How can you say the Raptors don?t fit well. Ingram hasn?t even played a single game for them yet.

Pacers will be just fine as they can shift Nembhard into the starting lineup witb TJ as backup.

Nembhard, Mathurin, Nesmith, Siakam, Turner is leagues better than what the C?s have now.

The Heat were also a play-in team. With Spo coaching, I?d take Mitchell, Herro, Wiggins, Bam and Ware over the Cs starting lineup for next year.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Who Celtics going to go after in 26-27 season when Tatum returns? Tatum, Brown & White are not title contenders with a bunch of bench players that should be in Maine..not being a Debbie Downer but those 3 big contracts kind of handcuffed the Celtics
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I do not expect the Cs to do much of anything. This a total reset for 2026.

I think what we have is what we have. Can't wait for Brad to come out and tell us how good he feels about Queta playing center and how excited they are for the stiff from KY to come in and play.

Then he will give us the line about how he likes Niang and thinks he can help the Cs.

I think there are more moves to come, although maybe not right away. The C's will still be trying to move Simons to cut their tax bill if not get completely out of the tax. They'll look into Niang moves for the same reason. They'll try to bring back kornet/horford, but it feels like one or both may be gone. If that's the case they will be looking for a center.

Everyone thinking this team is going to make some move to improve next season is mental. This team is what it is right now. They will shed someone to get under the first apron and play for a lottery pick next season.

Kornet will be overpaid by someone.
