Bobby Manning @RealBobManning
Next #Celtics date to watch: JD Davison's team option due SUN. Declining would drop C's below the 3rd tax bracket, bring their tax hit down to ~$43M & pull them within $5.1M of the 1st apron line, $12.8M of the tax line

No need to pick that option up.

It's worth noting that although Bobby Manning makes this sound like a financial decision, its really not. Even if they decline Davidson's option they still need to fill that roster spot, and any vet player with 2+ years of experience will cost as much or more than Davidson's option year.

They may decline it if they think they can do better than Davidson in that spot, but it's not for financial reasons.

He's just not an NBA player.  Cut him, and then offer something completely non-guaranteed if he's the best we can do.

Torrey Craig?  Cut JD and resign him.  Drew Peterson?

Bring back IT4 for the reset year? Who says no! Let?s get into that draft lottery and give Thomas his swan song!

Looking to continue shedding salary, the Celtics have explored the idea of flipping Anfernee Simons $27.7 million expiring contract, according to league sources. In such a move, they would be aiming to accomplish two organizational directives Brad Stevens emphasized after the first round of the NBA Draft on Wednesday: regaining more roster flexibility and setting up a path to retain free agents Luke Kornet and Al Horford. ? via New York Times

The Blazers have been trying to move Simons for two years and only succeeded when a 34 year old Jrue Holiday with 3/110 remaining in his contract came on the block.

I dont expect moving him for cap space to be easy

Good point. Still would love to see him somehow traded for a big man making less money.

I was looking at hoopshype rumors and there was the following Jayson Tatum tweet with no context.

Day 45? this is some bullEdited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.

Any idea what it is about?  Is Tatum 45 days from his surgery?

For those hoping that Tatum will be back at the end of the season, I think Stevens recent quote dashes that hope.

Quote
?We don?t and we won?t,? Stevens said Wednesday night. ?We won?t put a projected timeline on him for a long, long time. ? It?s baby steps right now. He?s actually progressed great, but I don?t know what that means in regard to projected timelines. But that will be in consultation with him ? and everybody else to make sure when he hits the court he is fully ready, and fully healthy. And that will be the priority.?

Trade Simons and Niang.

Get back cheap bench pieces and resign Al and Kornet. Start PP.

I'm hoping its not White getting traded......it could be people telling him to pull back on how hard he's pushing it, to even they told him he's not coming back this season even if cleared just to be in the safe side.

Most likely just him feeling down about the injury. I think it would be management malpractice of the highest order to tell a guy that he?s definitively out all next year and therefore run the risk of him losing incentive to rehab with focus and commitment.

This could mean almost anything.

How about trading Niang and two future seconds for Nick Richards? Also saves 3M in payroll

Why are we giving up the best player in the trade and sending picks?

I don't know if Niang is the best player in any deal.
