We would have lost this game with last years roster .

Yeah, that's a good point. Having another (let alone two) reliable offensive player beyond Tatum to rely one down the stretch is huge.

KP led the team with +13

Incredible! The highest point total ever for a Celtics debut as well.

Yeah, and no more endless double teams.

Absolutely.  Last year if JB or JT were off game over.  This year zinger and Jrue can pick it up

I was wrong. Looked like the same ole Celtics in the 4th choking up a game in the 4th..last couple years they def lose this game and game 1 this season they found a way to win…good sign. Please basketball gods let porzingis stay healthy. He’s amazing.

Talk about a debut from KP, most points ever by a Celtic on debut

Very humble in his post game interview too, deflected all the praise to his teammates

Too much reminded me of last year.

Obviously KP was the exception to that. He was great offensively (1st and 4th) and was a presence in the middle. Clutch FTs and 3s in the 4th.

Tatum is incredible. Jrue not there yet but will be. JB needs to relearn who he is. Love DW - huge play getting the tie up and winning the tip.  PP clutch in the end but he and Sam missed ALL their good looks tonight.  They’ll be better.  Cs can’t be over reliant on the 3. Didn’t work last year and won’t this year. Perimeter D AGAIN a problem. And yikes - giving up O-boards so frustrating.

  • GOT IT!!!
I'm literally shocked the C's have 42 points in the paint tonight. I just hate being so reliant on the 3 ball late in games though. The only team that has won a title doing that has two the greatest shooters of all time on it's team.

Positive to take from today...Tatum and Porzingis were really the only two guys who played well tonight, and we still managed to hold out a win against a pretty strong Knicks team who already has chemistry.

Porzingis very well might end up being our 2nd best player

He already is

JB will have his big games for sure. I’m just happy we have a legit Big 3.

Don't forget Holiday. Averaged 19ppg last year.

Shout out to Jrue for taking the assignment against Randle and shutting him down.  A PG, defending a bully-ball PF... 14 points on 22 shots.  Ridiculous.

I forget now ……

Who is our second best player  :P

Amazing to think that Brown signed for twice as much per year than Porzingis.

Not a good look at all tonight for Brown .  I have a lump in throat thinking about losing Time Lord .  At least he was a team first player with some BB IQ .  Brown looks awful…..the more he does the worse he looks.

KP reminds me of a taller Kevin Mchale without the hook! Shots go in like butter though and I remember those silky shots from McHale too!

They kept the Knicks to 30% from 2…but they struggled with their perimeter defense with then Knicks shooting 50% from 3, many of those shots were open too…they had some issues when they were put into rotation, hopefully that should improve with familiarity
