I don't know why the Celtics City edition jerseys are always so boring. Is it because they think our market is conservative and won't go for splashier designs or non-traditional colors? These jerseys are expensive items and it's not like people are wearing them in everyday life, so why not make them unique and different? A parquet floor trim, are you serious? Can we get something a little cooler? The normal jersey is already "traditional," why not make the City Edition bolder and different and modern? I honestly don't get it. Is there really a fan out there thinking "Hmm, I love how this is not the regular jersey but is still tasteful in representing the tradition of our historic franchise. Here's my $120!"

Nike, IMO, is pretty poor at uniform design. Yeah, they've hit on a few good ones, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Generally speaking, I think they try too hard and overthink things.

The concept is one thing, the execution is another. Some of the previous jerseys might look OK, but they all generally follow the same boring inspiration: Old-timey, classic, traditional, historic, Irish, etc. I would rather they change it up and do something that feels newer, more fun, and more colorful, even if it doesn't have any connection to previous and familiar Celtics motifs. Is it some kind of rule that every Celtics jersey has to be a variation of green, black, white, or gold/yellow? Those are the only allowed colors?

Last year's was our best one by far but I think that's as creative as they're willing to go. There's so many cool concept ones on Reddit. I wish our design team would tap some of those fans.

I prefer that they stick to the team colors—I am not a fan of the yellow-and-blue Red Sox City Connect jerseys—but otherwise I agree with your general approach.

Last season, a Celtics fan (@petemrogers) made a concept Celtics jersey after every win, most of his designs are better than Nikes.

I still can’t believe Celtics ownership haven’t gone back to the 1960’s style of jersey.

Celtics played one game with these jerseys in 2007, destroyed the Lakers, and never went back to the design.

I've always wanted them to go back to these, ever since that season.

These are all cool, but I really like the 3rd one.
