It is too late for him to be on a playoff roster, right?

correct
still might make sense for a team like the Sixers to sign him.

Why would they do this now? Just to screw him over?

Ya this seems odd. Don't see too many seasoned vets getting waived after the deadline.

So what's the theory here?

Danny being a jerk (maybe to teach other teams a lesson and that they should have given him assets if they wanted Porter)?

No playoff teams were showing interest in Porter (would think his agent would have pushed to have him waived earlier if there was a landing spot on a playoff team)?

Just a causality of the roster crunch (Jazz just signed Lofton and Bazley, which maybe they didn't think they would get)?

It seems like a pretty bad look either way. What is odd is they gave Westbrook the courtesy last season and gave him the option of either joining the team with no promise of minutes or being waived. Porter seems like a pretty respected player around the league too so this seems extra strange.

My guess is that it was a bit of hardball.  Players usually give up some salary, but Porter didn't want to.  So, the team didn't do him any favors.

Not sure if that's on Danny or ownership.  I don't love hardball because it ends up p---ing off agents.

I'm guessing the fact that he just decided to leave the Jazz after being traded and basically never showed up or wanted to be there, contributed to the timing of him being waived.

That's sad to hear. Sounds like he made the right choice though.

Sixers getting absolutely throttled by the Knicks tonight.

Hope we don't draw the Heat or Sixers (IF Embiid healthy) in the 1st round but that risk exists

Orlando is now the 5 seed btw, and not far from the 4 seed.

Up 6 full losses on the best of the West, too. We may have the number 1 overall seed wrapped up by early April with the remaining schedule that we have.
