People within the Dallas Mavericks were turned off by Grant Williams' 'yapping,' and he was reportedly not in good shape, per
@espn_macmahon

“I would say one of the ways that Grant Williams rubbed people the wrong way, the yap, yap, yapping obviously that’s kind of part of it with him. Which it’s charmingly obnoxious if he’s productive and it’s grating when he’s not. But he didn’t report in good shape and Grant Williams not in good shape is not a good defender.”

Who did they think they were signing?

Any background on him would have revealed that instantly.

But, the biggest singular change responsible for the decline of Milwaukee is regression of Kris Middleton.  He went from an All-Star to a middle of the road starter.  His defense went from well above average to poor, and his offense has been well below what you want from a third option.

I was trying to figure out where Middleton ranks among starting SFs in the league nowadays. I had him in the bottom third. Huge fall from an All-Star to that.

DiVincenzo now has taken 14-16 threes in a game in 5 of his last 8 games. He has another 12 threes attempted in that span. The other two games saw him take 9 threes each game.

106 threes taken in 8 games. One player.
13.25 threes taken per game.

How many games does he get?

Stewart is probably hoping for the season, anything to avoid playing for Detroit again

I was thinking 2-5 games at first but probably 5-7 games. I don't think it will be too high because it happened off court away from the fans and away from cameras.

If it happened on the court, it could be more like a 15 game suspension.

It is interesting to see Utah's lineups since the deadline. They have gone back to their big frontcourt of John Collins and Lauri Markkanen at forward and Kessler at center. This is after trading away their only SF on their roster in Fontecchio. And trading away their next best big man in Olynyk.

The big frontcourt did not work well for them early in the year. John Collins struggled and so did the team. They did not take off until they dropped Kessler from the starting unit an moved John Collins to center. Sacrificed their defense to open up the offense.

It will be interesting to see how going back to this combination works for Utah now.

Grant Williams with 15pts and 10reb. Unusual to see him get 10 rebounds. Are they playing him at center? I don't see any other center in their rotation aside from Nick Richards. Maybe Bertans. Bertans is tall but skinny and meek. They probably are using Grant as a backup center. Anybody know?

Hopefully the Bulls can squeeze out a win against the Cavs late

Chicago let it slip away.

Have to say this for Cleveland, having two great ball-handling guards who can break a press and hit free throws is a useful thing in the closing seconds of a tight game.  I have opinions on that backcourt and not all of them are positive, but that's one definite strength of that duo.

39.6% on them is pretty good.

How many games does he get?

If it was a punch ( I haven't seen it yet) he should get the rest of the year.

Rockets now 1-5 without VanVleet.
They are 23-24 with VanVleet.

They played Amen Thompson in the backcourt today in VanVleet's place and lost to the short-handed Grizzlies. Amen scored well and had lots of rebounds but only 2 assists. Houston as a team had only 17 assists on 38 baskets. Less than 50% assist rate. Sengun led them in assists with 5. So only 12 assists total from the rest of the team.

VanVleet is their only real playmaker on the perimeter. The team looks lost without him.

Man, Fox is good. Sacramento helping us out giving a big loss to Denver at home to push them further down from the first seed in the West.

Can't wait for the playoffs. The West is going to be a bloodbath, especially that second round if everything shakes out like the standings suggest.

Rui Hachimura with 36 points tonight, Austin Reeves with 22 points and newly-acquired Lakers Spencer Dinwiddie with 10 points. Smoked out the Utah Jazz on the road.

Don't look now but they're definitely molding into shape similar to last year again. Could be a play-in/low-seeded team that will give the top seeds a run and potential upset.
