Is anyone surprised at Brads off-season moves?

I applaud him for being willingto shake it up and not keep running it back. Ainge used to be like that, not afraid of making moves. I don’t know if this works out or not but I’ll give the guy credit for analyzing and trying to learn and change things up based off prior failures.

Not just being unafraid to make moves, but knowing the right moves to make. Making a (lateral) move just to make a move can backfire, but we clearly got the best player in both deals. And it only cost us 1 pick (you could also consider it a wash since the Walsh pick and other seconds were originally a first)

I honestly thought after game 7 Brad would just run it back this year with the same roster.

But instead he's taken a flamethrower to it and radically changed the roster, adding KP and Jrue and trading away fan favorites like Smart/Rob, letting grant walk.

Brad/wyc must really have been disgusted with what they saw against Miami and a major shakeup was needed around brown/tatum

I hated the Smart pick when we drafted him and couldn't stand his play style.  I loved the RWill pick but he could stay on the court.

Something had to give, and I love the attempts at a shakeup.  This is for real, JB's and JT's team.  I just hope, this is more for the long term and not a one and doner championship push like the Miami Marlins of old.

I am not sure it will work out that way. I thought it had a better chance with just Porzingis here. Now with Jrue there is another guy who needs touches, time on the ball, shot attempts. Also, he is a vet. He is the oldest of the bunch. He has won a title. A more mature leader.

I could see Tatum & Jaylen shrinking back into a Big 4 / sort of delegated responsibility between the four of them ... rather than rising to being the top 2 and everyone else follows them.

Jaylen in particular I see as vulnerable. Tatum has a legit talent separation from the pack. Jaylen does not. He is closer to Porzingis and Jrue. Jrue has the years & character. Porzingis the big man who does things nobody else does. Jrue as a guard does things the other big 4 do not do. Jaylen is duplicative of and inferior to Tatum.

I also wonder how well Jaylen may handle that. He wants stardom. He wants the attention. The fame. The shots. The point totals. The credit.

Jaylen got his acknowledgment of value with his massive pay day.  There’s no reason to bristle at sharing credit now, it would just
be pure selfishness.  I like Jaylen for the most part but if he can’t handle it, we shouldn’t hesitate to let him be the man and go dribble the ball off his knee into double teams elsewhere

I am super surprised... because we are so top heavy. So were the cHEAT (c is their on purpose they were like a cheat code), but they had 3 top 10 players less than 30 y/o if I recall correctly, we have 1 top 10 player under 30.

Wade was 29 when LeBron & Bosh joined, and Bosh was never top 10 in the NBA - not sure he was ever top 20 tbh

Eh, I think you might be undervaluing Bosh in your memory a bit there - arguably not in the top 10 but top 20 for sure for the season prior to The Decision:
