Tatum says he's put on 12 pounds this offseason

Pure muscle, obviously.

He was visibly bigger. In fact, it was the first thing that the panel brought up upon seeing him. He also mentioned that it was nice working out with Paul Pierce throughout the summer. JT looks primed to take another leap.

It's just an off-season cliche.  Everybody comes into camp having put on 10 - 15 pounds of muscle.

He was plenty strong last year, anyway.

Yeah, strength was not the issue. Knowing how to use it was Tatum's problem. He could much more effective 15 feet and in than he already is. Posting, driving, finishing, drawing fouls.

Re: the Joe stuff - I think his flippant, somewhat arrogant responses with the media also exacerbate concerns people have about him. I know they do with me.

Moving on, it seems that Joe did not commit to a starting lineup yet, so I expect to see plenty of experimenting and mismatching early in the season and preseason.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

He did look big. He's probably an option to guard Embid at times.

He'll need that extra 12 pounds playing the 4 this year esp now that Timelord is gone and we're most likely starting Zinger at 5

Kristaps Porzingis declares himself healthy: “Being here now, being healthy to start the season, it just gives me extra fire.” No limitations from the plantar fasciitis. “I’m perfectly fine.”

His plantar fascitis and how it is being handled worries me. Plantar fascitis doesn't just go away that quickly. It improves some and then it flares up again when you start working out or working out heavily on it again.

It seems very quick to me for Porzingis to be here at training camp and have no issues after having to sit out the international tournament.

It makes no sense to me. How could he have a problem serious enough to sit out that has healed so quickly? Plantar fascitis doesn't heal that quickly. It hangs around and hangs around making your life miserable.

I expect this will become a season long problem that he has to play through throughout the season until the end of the season. He will play in pain. He will be more limited in his mobility. And his performance will suffer.

This is the Boston Celtics—I expect that there will always be significant injuries that keep the team from reaching its ceiling. I just hope people don't keep acting shocked when it happens.

Throw in the expected injuries, and Joe will be experimenting up until the end of the season.

I hope folks are aware that Tatum worked out with Embiid in past off-seasons, guarding him 1-on-1. There's YouTube videos of this.

I'm a bit surprised that Tatum focused on bulk again this off-season.  I thought he was big enough last season to guard pretty much any PF out there.  But, hopefully this means he's going inside more this year.

Maybe he decided to take a page from Jordan circa 1990 or so.

Bulking up will allow him to better withstand all the hits from Giannis..

Correct me if I'm wrong but Tatum is like 6'10" 228lbs or something like that. That's not huge...

Tatum's finally done growing taller every off-season and has now solidified the tradition of growing wider.
