Anybody still think FSU belonged in the playoff?

Florida State has 20 or so opt outs, so this game has no bearing on my opinion.

Nine opt outs, who aren't the difference between 35-3 in the second quarter versus a competitive game.

Of course FSU should have been in the playoff.  Lots of playoff teams get absolutely whipped in the playoff game as well, doesn't mean they shouldn't have been there.

Part of the committee's job is to evaluate a team's current level of play and competitiveness.  They assessed FSU correctly.

Would those 20 or so opt outs have played if the team made the final four? Either way, it doesn't matter. It looks like the committee was 100% correct to leave Florida State out. Way to prove the committee correct.

It's hard for me to really judge the Georgia-Florida State game as a "metric" when I hardly know many of these guys on the field, which happens when there's like 20+ opt outs.

It can work out the other way too where if Bama gets blown out, then it just makes FSU being left out look worse.

Yes, they would have.

Penn State frauding again

Franklin blows
Except Franklin led Vanderbilt to two 9-win seasons which is a certified miracle.

Ole Miss won because they were the better team.  They have superior QB play and superior talent at the skill positions.  Those are the same reasons that OSU dominates Penn State.

Can't ignore a 60-point win which is apparently the biggest blowout in bowl game history.  Florida State still had most of their starters play in the game.  Jordan Travis would have been out injured regardless and FSU clearly did not have a backup QB good enough to make their offense remotely competitive.  Also while less impacted, Georgia was missing almost 20 players as well.

I hardly doubt that. I imagine Georgia had their fair share of players opt out too. It feels like a built in excuse for Florida State because they knew they couldn't compete with Georgia.

There were nine healthy opt-outs.  The rest were injured, or in the transfer portal.

lol at thinking my comment was about today. Franklin is who is recruiting the players. If we have bad quarterbacks who do we blame for that the tooth fairy? I would be shocked if you have watched as much Penn state as me given I went there. He is a great coach for a school like Vanderbilt. He hasn’t been able to get over the hump at penn state and it is not like is a school with no boosters or nil money. There are better coaches out there than Franklin for the Penn state job.

Did I say Allar is a bad QB?  Allar was one of the top QBs in the 2022 class and is probably the top QB performance-wise so far from that class.  He performed pretty well in his 1st year starting.  However Dart was one of the top QBs in the 2021 class.  That extra year of experience and better talent at the skill positions matters.

Get over the hump?  What does that mean?  Penn State has been the clear 3rd fiddle in the B1G but even that is going to be hard to maintain with Oregon, Washington and USC coming onboard.

That was some thrashing, opt outs or no...they ran up the white flag early. Even Kirby felt bad for them

It will be very hard for Penn State to be consistently better than Ohio State or Michigan if OSU and UM have competent coaches. Those are 2 of the 5 best programs in college football when they have the right coach. PSU just isn't that.  Franklin is a great coach, and if they let him go there is a much better chance that PSU takes a big step back, then even a small step forward. I'm sure PSU alumni would like some more wins against the big 2, but Franklin is at least beating everyone else.
