Holy crap, that was an amazing play call for the FG block. I think we might start to see a lot of teams trying that
Dolphins fan here. Not only was it amazing and led to the block but it also caused the next kick that would’ve iced the game for Miami to be wide left. That guy was definitely in our kicker’s head.

Very interesting take on the play by Pat McAfee.

TP. I didn't think I could appreciate the play more, but holy crap the amount of timing and scouting that goes into something like that is insane. And I never noticed Bryant on the other end just setting up to try and get the blocked kick, the whole unit really went all in on the play.

It also makes me really think that this sort of play will stay legal, but have limited situational uses (like the inside kick with two kickers that I think the Dolphins or Saints tried a few years ago). That level of timing and that obvious of a tell isn't something that you'll see every game, and the blocking may have a chance to adapt to account for it (maybe a slight formation change to move the guy on the right end back, or moving someone to a position more similar to the punt protector).
I'm bitter.

Ya. Imagine how much time they must have worked on that to get the timing down. It was perfect.

It was amazing, but maybe they should spend more time on the offense and defense than gimmic plays

From my outsider perspective the issue is not coaching, it’s talent evaluation. Bellichick is a brilliant coach and one of the worst GMs in the game. Very little talent on the roster.

There's talent but its mostly on the defensive side.  The offense is  a real hodge podge & the offensive line is a mess.

Talent evaluation is certainly part of it for sure, though.  I wouldn't go as far to call him one of the worst GMs in the league, either.

He does pretty well in the later rounds, but has really flubbed a lot of the first 3 rounds over the last decade or so (not all picks obviously, like Jones last year,  just a lot of busts). Those are the rounds when you need to hit on the truly elite talent and that has been a big issue and why there isn't enough elite talent on the roster. I believe even the defense only had 2 PB players last year Judon who came over from Baltimore and Jones, a rookie 3rd rounder. That is it.  So as good as the defense is, it isn't because of truly elite talent.

Far too many confuse Bill, the all time great defensive coach, with Bill the GM.  He isn't a good GM, which is why I do think he needs to have some modicum of success this year.  The seat is getting warmer post-Brady

If Brandon Schooler is playing on offense or defense, the game is lost. It doesn't matter if he spent an hour practicing this play or something on O/D, if he comes in for anything but special teams we're screwed

Want to know how little it matters? Does anyone here know (without looking it up) what his non-Special Teams position is?
I'm bitter.

Exactly. He might be the best defensive coach of all time, but Bill Belichick is an abysmal offensive GM, and always has been.

Season's officially on the line, got to have this game. If they lose and fall to 0-3, with Dallas looming next week (and likely 0-4), then forget about just this season and playoffs, but I think Belichick's job security can be in real jeopardy too. He may not have the buy-in of everyone in the locker room at that point, but also a lot of the issues plaguing this team are literally because of his roster construction and at times, in-game decisions (like not kicking that chip shot FG vs. PHI in the 4th).

We'll see how desperate they play today and what urgency they show. If BB benches Demario Douglas (probably our most, and only electric receiver) just for the fumble last week as "punishment" then I'll be ticked. This roster isn't talented enough for BB to be pulling those kinds of stunts. Not even close.

Wow, this Jets offense is just brutal to watch. Their defense has been keeping them in it, but all it takes is one good play by our offense to cut into that.

It would be one thing if the Jets were looking okay but making a few bad plays (like TOs or sacks) that put them in trouble, but they're just getting beat every single snap.
I'm bitter.

What have we seen from Mac so far today:
Good decisions
Accuracy
Zip on midrange throws
Perfect touch on TD throw to Pharaoh.
Standing in, taking a hit, and completing the pass.

Really should be up more than 10-3. Might not matter since Zach Wilson sucks though.

Come out of halftime with a scoring drive and I think the Pats are golden. Wilson feels so due for a turnover.
