  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Kraft is nothing wtihout Tom and Bill. Nothing.  He should be careful what he wishes for.

Kraft should just sell the team if he is going to fire Belichick. Absolutely nothing good can come of him continuing to own the team post- Belichick and Brady. It's not like the Pats are going to go out and find a better coach. It's the offense that sucks anyway and we brought in the most highly regarded offensive coordinator we could this offseason. At this point, just bring back Josh and see how it goes.

Awful Take. It's Tom Brady that was the prize. It's not Phil Jackson, Its Jordan,  Kobe and Shaq.

It's not Steve Kerr, It's Curry, Klay, Draymond,  it's Not Greg Popovich It's Tim Duncan, Ginobli and Parker.

Bill is a dinosaur.  So funny that people can't see that.  Get that piece of crap out of here. It's been 4 years people. He's a baby, will not accept responsibility for the Moves that He made that brought this team down.

He's a total hypocrite.  The Patriot way was really "The Brady Way"

According to NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran, the decision about Belichick’s future has already been made by team owner Robert Kraft.

Speaking during a Monday interview on the Arbella Early Edition program, Curran explained the timeline and details of what he’d heard. Asked if there was a chance Belichick could keep his job with the Patriots beyond the current season, he spelled it out.

“When they came out of [the 10-6 loss to the Colts on Nov. 12 in] Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made,” said Curran. “They were going to play out the string, and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons.”

Curran noted that an in-season firing was highly unlikely, and that Belichick — reportedly under contract for one more year after 2023 — remains a piece the Patriots could deal away.

Having acquired him in a trade with the Jets in 2000, New England could still try to leverage the best return possible if other teams show interest.

Ultimately, Curran claimed that Belichick is beyond the point where he could save his job with the Patriots once the 2023 season ends.

“It had gone too far,” he explained. “The Germany game. The Commanders game. The Saints game. All huge, marquee games. And then there was the Chargers game after that.”

All of those games ended with the Patriots losing, a string of defeats that may have pushed Kraft toward a less lenient stance with the team’s longtime coach.

“Just because they won last week in Pittsburgh in primetime, I don’t think it quells anything.”

Kraft is nothing wtihout Tom and Bill. Nothing.  He should be careful what he wishes for.

Belichick is nothing without Tom. It's time for Kraft to break this apart and clean the house. Get rid of Belichick and all of the personnel that are personally under him or affiliated with him. Time to bring in some fresh new blood and a change of culture.

Agreed. It’s time for a fresh start.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I'll take it one step further.  Espn has secrets. Did you know that ESPN reporters knew 2 years before LeBron signed by the Lakers it was a done deal.

LeBrons agents lawyers and his whole team where all slowly moving to L.A. Espn played along the whole time pretending like they didn't know. That stuff makes me sick.

Now the same whispers are coming from Curran and McAfee this is a done deal. The fix is in, the decision has been made.

So all you Bill Blowhards can finally accept the fantastic truth that this bum is done in New England.

I think firing Belichick is going to be a step back, maybe a necessary one, but the short term result is going to be getting worse, not better.  I hope everyone is prepared for that.

If I was Kraft, I would give him one more season.  I have said all along and still believe that this team is not that far off.  Teams can look really bad right up to when things kind of click and the team is good.  It even happened when Brady was here.

I remember getting totally blown out by KC on a Monday night in 2014.  I think it was the 4th game of the season and it looked like the team was horrible.  Then things clicked and we ended up winning the Super Bowl.

We have a very good defense, even with probably our two best players injured, that is a good start.  I think the OL is just a player or 2 away, we can draft one and maybe sign one.  Maybe draft a receiver, I don't think you need to have superstar receivers, just good solid receivers.  Missing of course is a good QB.  That will probably take more than 1 season to solve but I still trust Bill to build the "infrastructure" of the team and then hand it over to someone to hopefully develop a new young QB.
How can it be any worse?
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Trent Brown has said goodbye to Malik Cunningham, who was signed off the Pats' practice squad by the Ravens yesterday, with a pointed message.

Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Are you a patriots fan? I really hope nope with comments like this. Is it possible bill has had the game pass him by and is below average now? Perhaps. But calling a guy with 6 Super Bowl rings a bum is weird as heck.

Ask Lions fans. Having a bad season or missing the playoffs for 3 years is nothing compared to spending 5-10 years as the dregs of the league.

Look how poorly some fans are taking one bad year and just think how poorly they'll process a revolving door of crappy coaches and players.
I'm bitter.

Yes I am. Have had issues with Bill for a while. Great defensive coach. Greatest Head coach of all time? Not even close.  He's such a strange person, everyone looks the other way when winning rings.

The guy screwed over Brady and Gronk. No respect for anyone, and I mean anyone.  My respect for him is gone. Move on old man.

You could have a MVP candidate in his prime and know that you're not going to win the SB this year.

You could also be a fan of 31 other teams. The Chiefs have two SB wins, and I don't see them picking up four more with Mahomes. No need to cry for Patriots fans. The team is bottoming out and is in a good position to improve.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Why is there an uproar on Pats twitter about the Ravens poaching Malik? If he gets reps at QB for the Ravens, disaster has struck them. Seems like a good QB to run practice reps with. They might try to develop him long term as a gadget/wideout, but that's what we were angling to do.

Ravens  believe, probably correctly, that Huntley will get a better offer this summer, so I believe the intent with Cunningham is to groom him to be Lamar's backup next year

What I meant is that if we start over right now, by bringing in a new coach, and new GM, really a whole new organization, than not only will we still have all the problems but some of the things that are actually starting to look OK, will get worse, take a step back.

I use the term building the infrastructure.  I think Belichick is still good at that, historically good in fact.  The infrastructure of the team is building, coming back.  I would rather have Belichick building the infrastructure another year than pretty much anyone else I can think of.  That is why I feel like a change at the end of the season will be a big step back.

Give Bill one more season and then let Mayo or O'Brien or someone take over.  That may avoid having 5 bad seasons while another coach truncates the current rebuild and starts over and probably doesn't do it as well as Bill is doing it.  I think the team will be in a better place to hand off after one more season.
