Not much point in looking at his stats. Dude only played 279 minutes last season and I'd bet most of that was in garbage time after the game already decided.

Some fun highlights from last season.  I like 6'9" point guards who love to run!

Most of that was in the early part of the season when the Raptors were injured.  Then he went to the G-League, and then was hurt at the end of the year when the G-League season was over.  He scored 27 in 25 minutes in November win when he started.  Of course the next game he went 2-10 for 5 points in a loss. He had a couple of moments throughout the season tho.

I guess if we need this cat to average 15 ppg off the bench we are cooked.

Seems like Brad is looking for young cheap guys who still have room for development.  With the big contracts coming up over the next few years they need guys like this that can fill out the roster.  If you hit on a few like Miami did it gives you a lot of flexibility having assets to use or cheap talent to fill out your rotation.  People want beverly's of the world but if your filling out your 13 - 15 bench spots you need cheap young talent with potential.  Plus these are all defensive minded guys who will grind on our starters in practice.  Should make them a bit tougher.

I was reading an article on a Minnesota newspaper about their team and they were talking about they own so few draft picks in the coming seasons (because of the Gobert trade) so they have developed a strategy of targetting young players to grow and develop at the end of their roster and hope that some of them come good. That those young guys can replace their lack of picks. Same idea.

I wouldn't say that I'm high on the signing.  That said, Toronto had about 150 guys with redundant physical profiles and skillsets last season.  So the fact that Banton couldn't break through that group isn't necessarily a death knell on his viability as an NBA player.  Just no opportunity there.

We'll see what he does.  I don't expect much but maybe he surprises us.  Also, while this may not be exciting, Brad has established a precedent of using contracts like this in trades.  So he's likely (marginally) useful as minor contract filler even if he never contributes on the court.

I like Banton and Brissett over Pritchard and Hauser.

Banton is terrible. Brissett not much better. Two guys that will never see the floor because they can’t shoot and they are average defenders.

Everyone who wanted more driving and dishing should be interested in watching Banton.

I don’t think Banton gets any meaningful minutes. He’s a deep bench player at best (which is what the athletic said).

Saw a stat showing 9 Phoenix players shot over 35% form the 3pt line. I believe 5-6 shot over 40%.

These two players are good at driving to the hoop. However, with more taller rim protectors on the floor their effectiveness may be limited.

It's too bad Brad couldn't sign an above average outside shooting guard.

Maybe not but he can defend 3 positions so he might get some time just for that.

Brissett struggle’s finishing at the rim for a guy his size.

If we end up signing Grant Williams, we will arguably have the best 10 man rotation in the league:

Time Lord / Horford
Porzingis / Grant Williams
Tatum / Brisset or Hauser
Brown / Brogdon
White / Pritchard

The lineup includes four guys (Porzingis, Tatum, Brown and Brogdon, who are all capable of hitting you for 20-30 pints on any given night.

It includes multiple serious defenders (Time Lord, Horford, Tatum, Brown, Grant Williams and White.

It features multiple players who can also score the ball reasonably well (Horford, Grant, White, Pritchard.

Rotations are generally trimmed down come playoff time, so again if we sign Grant Williams our three likley guys off the bench will be:

Horford: who can the 4 and 5 spots

Grant: who can play the 3 and 4 spots, as well as some time at the five

Brogdon: who can play the point and off guard spots.

I agree we could ideally use some wing depth - one more guy behind Tatum/Brown that loves the needle a bit more than Brissett, but man, Brad has done a masterful job at constructing this roster.

He does have limitations with how much cash he can spend.

I wouldn’t mind Brad using Pritchard and a few first round picks for a young wing with a little more punch than Brissett and a half decent back up vet point for depth as Pritchard would be gone.

This may sound strange but the most intriguing player for me this year is Davison. He is the best drive and fish guy on our roster - the guy with the best tools to break down a defense off the dribble and get guys easy shots. Also to get us easy looks in transition. He has the physical tools to be that player for us. If he takes a leap and could even give us 10-15 minutes in that role it will be huge for the team. I’m hoping he can take a leap - it would make us a much more difficult team to guard.

Overall though: A++ for th job Brad has done.

The trio of Porzingis, Tatum and Brown with all NBA defenders in Time Lord and White on the bookends is very, very good.

The two man pick and roll game is key in getting buckets down the stretch. Porzingis will be the best pick and roll partner Tatum has ever played with - that is going to help us a ton. White Will likley make very good use of Porzingis as well.
