Kristaps Porzingis will wear No. 8 with the Celtics.

We need to get him working on his wiggle.

Besides Antoine, Big Al, & Kemba,  Porzingis is joining such luminaries as Al Brightman, Phil Farbman, Howie Shannon, Scotty Wedman, Kenny Battle, James Blackwell, Stephon Marbury, Marquis Daniels, Jeff Green, the immortal Jonas Jerebko,. Shane Larkin, the great Malik Fitts, & Josh Richardson to don #8 for the C's

I miss Jerebko. Thank you for recognizing his greatness! ;D

Always feel sad when someone wears Antoine's #8. There is this irrational part of me that feels it should be retired. It his number. Nobody else should wear it.

Antoine did not have the accomplishments to justify retiring his jersey but he was iconic during his time year. And helped rebuild some dignity and hope in the team after the bad days of the mid-90s when the team became a joke.

As flawed a player as he was, I still have a lot of love for Antoine.

When did Al wear #8?

For about the first half of his rookie season.  Then the Celtics traded back for Antoine and he switched to 7.  Antoine had a fleeting moment as #88.

Should’ve retired Toine’s number because of the wiggle and his inspiration to Pierce in that huge playoff comeback Vs Nets. 😉

No Celtic will ever get retired for a wiggle.

No Celtic will ever get retired for a wiggle.

But a coach might be fired for one, particularly with the wrong employee.

Well said, I feel the same.  I remember trying to collect all of his rookie cards when I was in middle school, I thought he was going to be one of the greats.

There are few players I hated more than Antoine. Still have occasional flashbacks.
