Just woke up and man Brad is crazy. I can only gather we actually drafted Jordan Walsh another terrible shooter to replace Smart.  7'3" wingspan is just ridiculous.

I will do some more research to find out all the picks we picked up today and I'm not judging Brad until I can see it all laid out.

Tps for anyone to beat me to it. The internet is confused currently with all these trades.

Side note Timelord is 6'8" and Porzingis is 7' 1.25" shoes off, however they share the same wingspan at 7'6" Goodluck getting to the rim against these monsters!!!

Thanks.  I was just reading we picked up a first somehow? It might be the remaining pick from the Smart trade.  Just wanted to confirm.

Yes, that’s correct.  The Golden State 1st.

Going to be interesting what picks exactly Boston got. DET doesn't have their 24' or 26' seconds but has what projects to be Washingtons 24' and 25' seconds as well as two other seconds in 26' from various teams. SAC has all its own seconds, 24 and 28' DAL Second and 25' POR second to trade. ATL doesn't have really any of its own seconds to trade but has some farther out from GSW and LAC.

Per Keith Smith, these were the 2nd rounders:

2024 — Dallas
2025 — Best of Detroit, Golden State, and Washington
2026 — Best of Minnesota, New York, New Orleans, and Portland
2027 — Atlanta

That’s a pretty solid collection.  One each year where before we had none, and a couple that seem very likely to fall very early in the 2nd.

So if you assume that we started with #35, ended up with #38 but then essentially got the following for Marcus Smart:

Porzingis
2024  1st — GSW (Protected 1-4 in 2024)
2024 2nd — Dallas
2025 2nd — Best of Detroit, Golden State, and Washington
2026 2nd — Best of Minnesota, New York, New Orleans, and Portland
2027 2nd — Atlanta

That is what we got for Marcus Smart as of today?  That seems like more than what WAS got for Beal (essentially Poole and a bunch of picks, mostly seconds).

Those second round picks are going to be important for a team over the second apron.  That is how we are going to fill out our roster since we won't be able to do trades (that bring back more money) or sign vet min contracts.  These seconds are going to be the low cost roster spots and/or 2-way players that are going to be important.  The first round picks too.

Yes to the 2nd rounders but not the 1st round picks. Brad knows the new CBA is coming.

I read this morning that we did this moving down for a trade exception, more than the draft capital

I think we did this for a 5 mil trade exception.

I don’t.  That’s not to say it might be utilized, but I think they knew they could get someone they really liked in Walsh (they worked him out twice) a bit lower and could get more draft capital.  The exception offers more flexibility, and probably factored into the decision, but $5 million doesn’t go that far, and they’ll still consider matching an offer from Grant.

This new CBA is going to create haves and have nots in terms of NBA player, it will kill the NBA's middle class.   A 5 million TE will be valuable in this new CBA.    The big stars are going to get the bill bucks and the rest are filler.

Pretty solid. Would imagine most of those are in the top 40. Handy pieces to have

There's protections specifically on the Detroit part of it, that is top 55 protected. Its best to think of the 25' pick as the better of WAS and GSW because DET isn't going to be one of the 5 best teams.

That’s not accurate.  The Detroit pick is top-55 protected to NY.  In other words, if Detroit picks 56-60, then it goes to NY and can’t come to us.  If they pick at 31-55, then we can get it assuming it’s the best of the three.  So the protection only matters if all three of Detroit, Golden State, and Washington have too 5 records.  I’m willing to bet against that.
