Let's assume Jokic closes it out.

#1.  Who is the greatest ringless player in the NBA?

#2.  Which ringless player is most likely to win a title?  Least likely?

Off the top of my head:  Embiid, Harden, Butler, Doncic, Tatum

Embiid (he’s the MVP)
Luka (he’s always in the conversation for MVP and a 1st team lock)
Tatum (he’s had 2 consecutive 1st team selections now)

I think that’s your list. I think Tatum is closest to winning a title than either of the other 2. I think Luka is the least likely to win, tbh. He’s too good to get help from the draft. He’s too ball dominant to attract a star. And so I think Dallas is most likely to make a bunch of nothing moves unless they get lucky with a sleeper pick in the draft.

Solid list assuming the Heat don’t kick off the next 3-1 Finals turnaround.

This isn't much of history.  Wow, Charles, Karl Malone, Stockton, Clyde Drexler, Elgin Baylor, Iverson, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, Nique, IMO are all above CP3.

As I understood it, we’re talking about players still in the league today. CP3 isn’t a top player anymore, but he’s got a HoF-worthy career.

I went with "greatest" instead of "best" so that those career accolades can be considered, although admittedly I totally overlooked Chris Paul.

As Kern said and as the initial post clearly implies it was players currently playing in the league, which none of those players are.  Hence Chris Paul, who I believe has had the greatest career of the active guys to not have won.

For some support, the NBA's 75th anniversary team has the following players on it that haven't won a title: Harden, Lillard, Paul, and Westbrook.  Of those, I believe Chris Paul has had the greatest overall career even though Harden and Westbrook have both won MVP's and Paul has not (though I had forgotten about Harden and he is close to Paul historically I think).

As I forgot Harden, I think I'd replace Lillard with him on my combination list.  So greatest career: Paul.  greatest player today: Embiid.  greatest combination of both: Harden.  I do think Lillard and Harden are close and Embiid has some company in Doncic and Tatum.  This of course, as indicated in the opening post, that the Nuggets close out the Finals.

If we are talking about the players with the most decorated careers not to win a title, I’d go with Harden and CP3.

Barkley and Elgin Baylor and Karl Malone for the past

Modern NBA y Chris Paul, Embiid and Harden

Least likely of the ones I named, all three are not likely to win one.    Paul is old,  Embiid can only play well for 3/4 of a game, and Harden is getting up there too.   I would say Paul, has the least chance. rumors has he wants to play with Lebron and  unfortunately, those two will only get worse as father time ravages them
