TBH I don't really think the ability to use the tax payer MLE has much to do with this trade. For one thing the MLE is only worth 5.0 million, so its barely more than just a vet min salary under this new CBA. Also that presupposes that Grant is allowed to walk for nothing, and I'm not convinced yet that's going to be the case.

This could very easily just be an asset play. Move back six spots, pick up a few future seconds. That sort of trade happens all the time.

That’s my feeling.  The only benefit of staying below the second apron this year is that you get a $5 million MLE.  Grant is superior, and keeping him would put the Celtics at a similar payroll as last season.

Keeping Grant would also put us in a financial jam in future seasons.  We can't just presume that he'd be easily moveable.

The financial jam would depend whether and how much we extend/resign Porzingis for.

How many 2nds are we getting from Detroit?  If they keep stinking theylll be like late first round picks.
2 of them. Looks like their seconds mostly project out well:

2024 - To NYK; More favorable of MEM and WAS (via MEM to OKC to WAS; via BRK to DET)

2025 - 31-55 Own; 56-60 to NYK (via LAC to POR to DET; protected via DET to NYK); More favorable of GOS and WAS (via DET swap of GOS for WAS (via BRK))

2026 - To ORL (via LAC); More favorable of NYK and MIN (via NYK); More favorable of POR and NOP (via NOP to POR to NOP; via POR to DET)

2027 - To NYK (via HOU to OKC) if DET has not conveyed 1st round pick to NYK by 2027; BRK

2028 - Own

2029 - Own

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I mean I think he'd be pretty easily movable. He's a 40% three point shooter over the last three years, is only 24 and has never really been injured. He guards 3-5 pretty well. Thats the definition of movable.

Obviously you don't match a 18+ million dollar offer or something crazy like that, but otherwise match as an asset play.

Alright Leonard Miller, Colby Jones, or Andre Jackson Jr are my picks here. I also do like Amari Bailey as a long term project.

Hearing the Celtics are trading down yet again from No. 31. Swapping with the Hornets for picks Nos. 34 and 39.

How did we get more value for 31 than 25?

I don't see the market for undersized 8/5 guys who have plateaued as being that robust.
