I’m guessing that falls more on Wyc than Brad.

I know. When he was coaching the Celtics I never once saw him get fired up during a game. Just stood there with his arms folded.

I'm glad i didn't have to suffer through watching the playoff games in real time this year. After last years loss to Golden State, I just record the games and if the Celtics win I watch it if they lose I delete the recording. Saves a lot of stress. I didn't see one minute of tonights sad effort and any other loss in the playoffs this year. lol

Yea Brad is not even in the same solar system as Bill as far as coaching skills go. And I've seen Bill get p---ed during a game.

Sort of like second row Joe. At least Joe has an excuse. He's never been a head coach before. Brad never coached Butler to the NCAA championship or the Celtics past the ECF.

Atlanta, Portland, Houston feel like the 3 teams who can covet him.

Yeah, honestly, I've almost talked myself into a Trae trade. While having some weaknesses, he would greatly help the end-game issues we've had for a long time by providing another competent ball-handler.

I'd shoot for something like JB and one of Smart/White/Brogdon for Trae and Collins.

If not, I'd try to do something around Portland and Toronto with us getting an (extend and traded) Siakam, Brown to Portland, and #3 to Toronto.

But I don't think making JB the highest paid player works with how incomplete of a player he is.

I actually don’t hate those ideas. Young as a #2 option and legit PG for us would probably benefit all parties, and Collins gives us another PF/C in the mix with Horford and Timelord. Young isn’t an alpha but in this scenario he wouldn’t have to be.

In the second idea I’d want a little more than just Siakam though

I believe Trae only works as an alpha. As the main guy.

His defensive flaws are huge and create a large negative impact for the team. Now he can neutralize that with good offense but you don't pay max money for neutral. You pay max money for big time impact. And the only way you get a big time impact from Trae is if you let him dominate the ball and be a prolific scorer & passer.

Meaning Trae has to be the alpha in the offensive scheme in order to have a large positive effect on his team. His defense just takes too much off the table for him to take a large step back on offense. He needs to be the main guy. And he is an on-ball-creator so he is the main. It is not about him playing off of others.

If Trae came here, he would be the #1 offensive player on this squad. Tatum would be the #2. Trae would have the ball in his hands more often and he would carry a larger amount of offensive responsibility between both his scoring and his passing.

And frankly, that is the way it should be for any team that has Trae Young on it. He should be front and center. It is the only way for him to have a large enough impact to justify that contract / to make a large enough offensive impact over his negative defensive impact.

I will have to consider if I want to invest any more time in this team if Jaylens still on the roster next season. I've seen him dribble off his foot one too many times in crucial moments - and then calling the fan base toxic when they rightfully criticize the team. Go away, dude.

Yeah, I really did not like that. That irritated me.

Any good / possibly fair returns you have in mind? I like gearing trade ideas. I’m not so great at even myself.

I mean... he wasn't wrong. Probably could've phrased it better.

I don't think the whole fanbase is toxic and I don't believe that's ultimately what he meant. But there's a huge contingent that take their vitriolic cues from local sports radio. Go on social media after a tough loss and people get vulgar.

This is not just an overreaction to this G7 massacre. But this guy can not get $55M per year. He has a lot of skill and is a great player. I used to prefer him to Tatum but just the bad decisions on the court are unforgivable. Also as a person, he is not a good dude. This may even be a rare scenario where trading him for a bunch of really good players may be worth it even if we do not get a stud in return that is on his level.

P.S. I wish we just lost in 4 after this being the outcome, at least Slow Joe would maybe be gone and we could have Nurse or a competent coach. I'd honestly even have Doc back at this point, which is saying something since the last 15 years for him has not been good.

It's fair to critique a player's flaws and he definitely deserves it after this game. I'm pretty hard on him and have a history of being onboard with a trade. But you don't know these guys at all. It's a reach to attack players personally.

The guy defends Kanye, Kris & Black Hebrew Israelites.. you serious?

In the past I would have not liked this idea at all, but I was really impressed by the passion and fight Trae showed in the playoffs this year.  I would be happy with this move.

Don't move a player after 1 bad series, I think he got hurt and maz did not adjust, too busy watching the town

It's not just a response to one bad series - although it really was a very bad series and seeing him at with something like 14 FGA and multiple turnovers after the first quarter did leave me absolutely fuming.

The issue for me is the overall fit with Tatum and Brown together as your #1 and #2.  Tatum and Brown are both highly streaky volume-scoring wings.  They both chuck up a lot of difficult, low-percentage jumpers and when they are feeling hot and the shots are falling the team looks unbeatable, but in those games where those guys are cold and the shots aren't falling, this team can look lottery-team bad.  To make matters worse they both can be turnover prone when they are feeling pressure, and given how often they both hold the ball the sheer number of turnovers can absolutely kill the team.  I recall one game where Brown and Tatum had 10+ turnovers between them in the one game - no team is winning that way.

I think Tatum and Brown are both special young talents and I think they are both good enough to be the #1 guy on a team.  BUT they are both high risk/high reward players who can give you 50 one night and then give you 8 points on 2-17 the next night.  You can find ways to overcome that and win when you play weak teams in the regular season and in early playoff rounds, but if you want to win a Championship you need to be able to play consistently strong baskeball over sustained over a 7-game series, and I just don't think the Celtics can do that as long as these two guys are their two best players.

I think if you really want to compete for a title one of them needs to go - and if you're going to choose one of them, the obvious choice is to keep Tatum.  Not only is he the better all-round player, and the younger, and the higher upside of the two...but a year from now he'll probably be on a more affordable contact as well.

i’m convinced JB is the locker room cancer we’ve heard rumors about for several seasons. his arrogance and selfishness are off the charts and he clearly resents JT.

after the big game six win, i really didn’t like his body language with tatum in the locker room. it seemed as if JT was attempting to connect with jaylen but jaylen’s body language and lack of eye contact were disrespectful imo. i’m ready for this guy to be gone and i bet the camaraderie improves with him off the team.
