Saw where there’s rumors in Houston where Celtics trade Brown to Rockets for #4 & #20 pick..bad trade if that happens, we be 6 or 7 best team in East
Anything less than Green and 4 and we shouldn't take the call. The Rockets probably don't want to do that so it should be a non starter.

There would have to be a lot more salary in that trade. I don't see how the Rockets get there.
Yeah I was just talking about the assets coming back.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Rocket's salaries and it looks like a hard trade to match up.

He can be traded into their cap space without matching salaries.

There is no way the Celtics make a trade with HOU without at least those Green/#4 coming back (and likely more). #4 and #20 is a joke of an offer and not a real rumor. You aren't even getting Scoot or Miller in that scenario.

Name one trade that was leaked in the Brad Stevens era?    He has ran a tight ship and rumors have no got out.   So I don't believe the rumor  for one second.

I would ask for Green, Sequn and role player  that can contribute and picks 4 and 20 but even so this does not match salaries and they are going to want to have cap space to sign Harden so it is a pipe dream as I see it.

Brown for Durant got out.

Rumors or leaks are one thing, then there are just ideas about trades that float around.  I have not seen anything more than stating this as an idea or question.  If I was Houston and/or Udoka, I would far rather have Brown than Harden.  It seems like two, entirely different, mutually exclusive paths.  But I don't see Boston trading Brown for prospects and picks.  That to me makes no sense.

A pure hypothetical here — what combo of draft capital and players would it take to get Jaylen Brown in a Rockets uniform? — James C.

I’ve learned my lesson with these. Let’s figure this out. After reading this question, I immediately posed it to my esteemed colleague Jared Weiss, who covers the Celtics.

“Boston’s championship window is now and it’s no longer opening,” Weiss said. “They have a brief moment to strike before they have to start rebuilding and trading for prospects doesn’t make sense right now unless Brad Stevens was lying about believing in this core. So unless it’s a three-way deal to bring in a prime superstar and move Houston’s top assets like Green and the fourth pick elsewhere, I don’t see Boston being interested.”

So there you have it. The Celtics probably don’t want Green and picks. The Rockets probably don’t want to mortgage a huge chunk of assets like Smith and Eason as well. You’re better off just waiting for next summer, when Brown will hit free agency if he doesn’t sign an extension in the next 12 months.

Ok, here's another trade idea from someone who still thinks we should keep Jaylen. This deepens our roster:

Jaylen and Pritchard for Gary Harris, Franz Wagner, and Wendell Carter Jr. This works in the trade machine. Reshapes the roster.

I think it would be a mistake to only apply this criteria to trades that wind up coming true - it was under Ainge but remember Ray Allen for OJ Mayo?

Now, having said that, Durant for Brown was definitely leaked by Brooklyn and was almost certainly not a real offer on Boston's side. Stevens runs a tight ship, as you've said.
"...unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it."

Reshapes it on a very bad way. Only way you trade brown is if it is for an established star. I do like Wagner and Carter Jr in a vacuum but not if they are the main pieces of a JB trade. It sets the team back significantly.

I disagree.

I am not sure Franz Wagner isn't an improvement over Jaylen Brown by himself just by being a more team orientated player. But then adding Wendell Carter on top of Franz, that is a clear upgrade for Boston.

I'd do that deal.

The Celtics get bigger and pick up two starters.

After Mo Wagner, I never want to see another Wagner in green ever.  Dude was ten times better the moment he got traded.

I do like Wendell Carter, Jr a lot though.   I would want Cole Anthony and Carter, some filler and picks 6 and 11, Brown is a superstar.  Then we can trade  one of Smart or Brogdon as Cole would be another PG.  Draft Picks are risky as heck though, and the odds of 6 and 11 being better than Brown are slim

I think Brown is greater than anything they have to offer.   But if he wants out to have to get a deal, I don't think that is the case, media is driving this narrative.

I am going to reshape this trade some.  I have no interest in Harris.  I would rather have Jonathan Isaac as the filler.  And I want more actual players back from ORL.  I don't care about draft picks:

Brown, Pritchard, Muscala
for
F. Wagner, Carter, Isaac, Cole, #6, (and maybe a future first added in)

So now we get 3 useful players (Wagner, Carter, Cole), a prospect at a position of need (Isaac), and a pick that we can package with say Brogdon to get a starting level PF or C.   Maybe Brogdon + Grant + #6 can get you someone good.   I think Wagner is a little bit of fool's gold, that once on a contending team, he won't be as productive, his flaws will be more exposed, but I think he is still a good shooter and good all around player.  Carter is probably better than Grant, but a #4 or #5 guy.  And Cole is a very solid back up PG.

The ultimate success of this trade comes down to who you get with the #6.  If it is Towns or even Porzingis, that is pretty good.  Maybe Markkanen.  Maybe Ayton.  There are some real possibilities once we have that pick shop around.
