I’ve really soured on Ayton, and the last thing this team needs is another soft player; However, I wouldn’t be opposed to sending out that same package for a different big, maybe someone like Wendell Carter Jr, who I believe is a better all around player than Ayton, and can spread the floor with his shooting, and defend a bit out on the perimeter.

I really like Ayton. I don't know though.

G: D White / Brogdon
F: Jaylen
F: Tatum
F: Horford
C: Ayton

Will Ayton get the ball any more here in Boston than he did in Phoenix? I mean, Jaylen is going to take away huge number of possessions from Ayton. Tatum will get his, deservedly so. Brogdon will come in an need more touches. Will Ayton get the ball anymore than he got in Phoenix? Will Ayton be happy without extra touches? I don't so. I see the same problems repeating themselves.

I'm not opposed to moving Smart, but Ayton doesn't have any heart.

Ayton is a losing player. Acquiring him would be a great way to make us the softest team in the Association.

Wouldn’t do either of those players straight up, let alone both
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

My opinion on Ayton has really soured the last 2ish years. Then you add the contract, and he looks rough. Super athletic bigman though. Just don't like 7'0 long hyper athletes if they don't protect the rim well. I thought he had made strides with that a few years ago, but he has really struggled.

Sometimes I wonder if people who post trades like this ever actually watch the guy they wnat to trade for.

Ayton would get ran out of Boston in about two weeks. He plays with no force, isn't good defensively, and is a losing player. Ever Celtics fan would HATE him.

In the past I would agree 100%, but honestly Smart has actually been pretty great in this playoff run.

His shot selection overall has been pretty good (he's averaging 15 PPG on 46% / 37% / 80% shooting), he's taken care of the ball reasonably well (averaging 2.3 turnovers per game which is not bad), and he's been one of the few guys on the team who has shown consistent passion and energy through the entire playoff run.

For the first year in my life I'm going to actually defend Smart right now - I'm really not sure the team would have made it past Atlanta without him.
