Serious question, how the heck was D White 2nd team all defense?? Yeah he gambles and gets some steals and has some good blocks for a guard, but the dude is a complete turnstile on ball defender. There's a reason jimmy butler sought him out ALL game long. Id love to see what players are shooting when covered by him, but then again he gives up so easily that the help defender is usually the closest defender so not sure the advanced stats would show it accurately
everyone got so sensitive after 9-11... thanks alot bin laden

Says he thinks a bit of the defensive identity has been lost, the connectivity and the physicality has been lost

Washburn asks if he has lost the team, has there been a disconnect, he says there is a disconnect, he has to be better to figure out how to make them more connected defensively, and to make sure they know what they’re trying to do offensively

He’s repeated multiple times that he didn’t have them ready to play, someone asked him to be more specific, shouldn’t the players take responsibility too, he said it starts with him, he has to be better

Platitudes. Empty platitudes from a coach seeing the writing on the wall and trying to salvage his job.

He's at least a dozen times this year already admitted faults, but he never changes. He's stubborn and dogmatic, and the worst thing about it is he has zero justification for it with is lack of experience.

To be fair, the team was 2nd defensive rating for the regular season. It wasn’t as good as it was last season but their metrics don’t suggest they were bad defensively. In the regular season at least.

I've wondered this, as well. I almost wonder if his constant getting beat off the dribble actually makes it easier for him to get the come from behind blocks and steals and everything that are more "flashy" defensive plays.

Scal, Amina and Eddie said they think it’s all lip service. Either Joe is just mouthing motherhood statements or CYAing for his players taking all the Heat for them

You *literally* deemphasized defense all year long to focus on the offense. This is absolutely what you wanted.

We had the 2nd best offensive rating as well and the best net rating in the regular season.

Ppl still blaming Joe need to get a dose of reality.

Coaches can only do so much.

His players are sucking

It *might* just be because he simply doesn't put them in positions to succeed. You know, like completely changing a highly successful defensive identity from last year to focus on a completely erratic and unsustainable gameplan of just chucking threes and not focusing on the D.

Hard for the players to succeed when they're not given the tools or opportunity to succeed.

It took Ime half the season last year to get the players to buy into the system and it proved to be super-successful. Joe apologists will tell you that this season's team had a better record than last year's, but that is just stupid. First, because of what I just mentioned above, but also, this team came out red-hot after a Title run and has been sputtering ever since. It is like the opposite of last season and that really is on the coach...especially since we now have a more 'talented' team.

TP. This is much more reminiscent of the last Brad year than last year. Both examples of lost locker rooms and tuning out of the coach.

You're right as usual, JP  Brad introduced the 3 ball mentality coupled with lack of defense.  The latter was so bad his first year, DVG exploited the constant switching defense to the point Isaiah Thomas was covering Drummond down low in the box...3 times in the first game played between the 2 teams.  Other teams exploited the same weakness until Brad was forced to try various ways which largely failed until Ime was hired.

Danny eventually got tired of his suggestions made to Brad to curtail the over reliance on the 3 ball with 4 players parked outside the 3 pt line with no one cutting to the basket and play "Celtic's Ball" being ignored that he went to Wyc who sided with Brad because he was younger and made less money than Danny.

Danny "resigned" citing wanting to spend more time with his family but the reality he was forced out.  But, the minute the GM job at Utah opened up, he went right back into the saddle and does what he does best--overhauling the roster and acquiring a boatload of draft picks-to rebuild that franchise just like he did with the C's.

Joe is a puppet and slavishly devoted to the 3 ball offense his boss, Brad, hung his hat on.  BOTH of them lost the locker room during their respective tenures and BOTH need to be ushered out this off-season.

The question is does Wyc have the cahones to admit he made a mistake with respect to both Brad and Joe.  Any new coach hired (especially the front runners like Nurse, Bud, Atkinson) will want assurances that they have the latitude to change the philosophy on both sides of the ball.

Wyc really only cares about revenue IMO rather than the ultimate prize (a championship especially in light of the C's long illustrious history in 4 separate decades).  The C's have the talent to do so (including multiple banners) IFF Wyc steps up, admits the mistakes he made and hires not merely a new HC but a new GM as well.
Is the stuff about Danny just your opinion or is there any sources backing this up? Seems spot on.
